Often, when we read the Bible, we want answers. And our culture has trained us to want those answers now. But as we discussed the previous week, the Bible was lived and written in a context that is not our own. One of these contexts is that the Bible is Ancient Jewish Meditation Literature. Meaning, the Bible wants and is designed to give us answers and wisdom but not through the quick and brief means we desire. The Bible is Meditation Literature which means it is literature that is meant to be engaged over a lifetim. To be read, reread, reflected on, and read again. And by reading the Bible in this way, we experiance transformation.
