Demon strategy
Demons, those that influence and possess a person are those that are labeled disembodied spirits. They are not fallen angels, but are the spirits of the Nephilim, the offspring of the bastardized race of beings which were the result of the cohabitation of the beings known as the Sons’ of God and the daughters of men. (Genesis 6:1-4)
We learned yesterday, from the Book of Enoch, not a book that was included in the Canon of scripture but an ancient book which is quoted from by human writers of the bible. (Jude 14)
What is written in the book of Enoch is written about both by Jude and by Peter concerning these disembodied spirits.
Enoch writes that they are always hungry, and they are always thirsty but never being satisfied. As they are tormented, they make it their business to torment and to harass the children of God. a God whom they hate with all the vileness from hell.
Our first recorded encounter with a demon in our study of the Life of Christ is here in Luke.
Luke 4:31–34 (NASB95) — 31 And He (Christ) came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath; 32 and they were amazed at His teaching, for His message was with authority. 33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 “Let us alone! What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
Even in our day, as the church begins grow in number, within its ranks I am sure that there are what I like to call “sleeper agents.”
There are those that are present among the members and visitors of any given church that are present simply to monitor church activity. As long as the church concerns itself with peripheral issues only, that is Programs, meetings, traditions, celebrations, field trips etc.. the sleeper agents go along hiding out in the quiet wolves of the church.
Also, I believer that is within most churches there is the Jezebel spirit. A demonically active woman that is used to undermine the authority of the pulpit.
I have witness this on a number of occasions, and then one meeting with the local pastors as we sat and talked about the brewing problems and controversies in their churches, I began to notice within each congregation there was one particular woman in each whose name kept coming up. Each of these women were active in undermining the authority of the pulpit.
What is the purpose of these demons for this?
They are to disrupt and to hinder God’s plan. They are seeking to detour the efforts of man to change his orientation of authority.
You see, the earth is their dominion and Satan is the ruler of this dark world. the successful arrival of Jesus was the beginning to the end of Satan and their hold upon this earth. This is why these days are called the “Last days” which began with the incarnation of Christ. It is the Last days of Satan’s hold upon this earth.
Point of Doctrine: when two opposing forces meet on the battlefield, one force does not advance without the other force losing ground.
Satan is the ruler of this dark world at the point that Adam chose to sin against God.
John 14:30; 16:11; 2 Cor 4:4; Eph 2:2; 6:12; 1 John 4:4; 5:19
When one by one a sinner repents, Satan loses a hold upon his own dominion, as a once a child of disobedient living in Darkness moves into he light.
When a believer advances in the spiritual life being washed in the word, orientation to the authority of God by the means of scriptures and coming to the place of spiritual maturity, Satan loses more ground.
When a church is functioning under the authority of scripture it is a mighty threat to Satan and his minions, and the attack is centered upon it.
Salvation is about whom do you bow a knee to.
The Fall of man and woman in the garden was about authority.
The tree was an authoritative boundary to a relationship with the Lord. there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the tree. Only that God said that they were not to eat from it.
Prior to the woman taking from the tree, she first lent an ear to Satan. The serpent of old.
It was the woman who was deceived and then undermining the authority of her husband and then rejecting the authority of the word of God.
The man for his part rejected the word of the Lord as he attributed authority to the woman that she did not possess and he himself oriented under her authority by taking from her hand.
She said, “eat this!’
He said, “yes dear.”
Repentance means a change of mind.
To undo what was done to cause the fall must be an opposite response if a way is provided by God. A way through Christ has been made available.
Repentance is the changing of the mind from bowing a knee to Satan, the world system and one’s own carnal nature to yielding once again to the authority of the word of the Lord.
Baptism is the proclamation and the identification under a new management to my life.
The synagogue was a place of meeting on the Sabbath. And it was this particular Sabbath in Capernaum that the greatest of all teachers came to teach.
Luke 4:31 (NASB95) — 31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath.
How many times have read in Scripture?
“The word of the Lord Came.”
Genesis 15:4 (NASB95) — 4 Then behold, the word of the Lordcame to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.”
Jeremiah 1:2 (NASB95) — 2 to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
Jeremiah 1:4 (NASB95) — 4 Now the word of the Lord came to me saying,
Hosea 1:1 (NASB95) — 1 The word of the Lord which came to Hosea the son of Beeri, during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
Joel 1:1 (NASB95) — 1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel:
John tells us that the Word is the God.
What if the Word who is the Lord did not come to Adam and Isha our first parents after the fall. What if we never heard the sweet sound of the gospel that we might respond and enter into the family of God. What if we never heard another word from the Lord there after where would our spiritual lives and walk with he Lord would be?
Romans 10:11–17 (NASB95) — 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” 16 However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Jesus did not come to the church to organize a Sunday pot luck.
Jesus did not come to fleece the flock of their money.
Jesus did come to tell Jokes or to entertain the crowds.
Jesus did not come just as a filler to the Synagogue service to give a brief message but one that could tickle the ears of the restless.
Programs, meetings, entertainment, and the like did not come to that synagogue in Capernaum, but the Word of the Lord did.
Luke 4:31 (NASB95) — 31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath;
διδάσκω [didasko /did·as·ko/] To teach and to instruct.
Take away everything else, all else. The music, the programs the field trip, the building the property, the hymn books in fact what the people possessed when they had to meet in the tombs the catacombs to escape persecution while they worshipped God was more of a church than most of the elaborateness of the places we see today.
for in those tombs the word of the Lord came, and believers were being taught the word.
Luke 4:32 (NASB95) — 32 and they were amazed at His teaching, for His message was with authority.
