Psalm 105:19

Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.
“the word of the LORD tried him”
God allowed things in Joseph’s life to prepare him for things later in his life.
Why? Because God intended it for good.
Joseph was tried in these WAYS:

I. The Lord Tried Joseph Through Selling. v.17

17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:
He was sold far below what he was worth.

II. The Lord Tried Joseph Through Suffering. v.18

18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:
He suffered pain without complaining.

III. The Lord Tried Joseph Through Serving. v.20

20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.
He was free to go but stayed by the king.

IV. The Lord Tried Joseph Through Speculation.

They thought Joseph was dead and was surprised he was alive.
Conclusion:
These three ways Joseph suffered are a type of what Christ went through:
Jesus was sold out by Judas.
Jesus suffered throughout his trial, imprisonment, and crucifixion.
Jesus is the servant in Whom God is well pleased!
Jesus was thought to be dead and the disciples were surprised He was alive.
