“THE BLOOD STILL SPEAKS”
Gen 4:1-10
Memorials are designated and distinguished by their LOCATION as well as their INFORMATION. This mornings message …..Messages delivered- from the dead.
It’s all about BLOOD!!! The Bible is a bloody Book. A scarlet thread of red runs from cover to cover. Cut it anywhere and it bleeds the most sacred substance. Blood begins to flow in Genesis 3:21 and continues running through the Book of Revelation when blood will flow to a horse's bridle at the battle of Armageddon.
We’ll focus our attention this morning on a descriptive detail of one of the messages mentioned- the message of Able- a message from the dead- a message written red- written in blood.
I. THE MARTYRS’ BLOOD STILL SPEAKS
I. THE MARTYRS’ BLOOD STILL SPEAKS
In Luke 11:51 Abel is referenced as a Prophet of God!
In Hebrews 11:4 he is mentioned in the Hall of Faith.
Jude 11 way of Cain- way of works! Cain surely gave the most fragrant fruit- biggest & best of the batch.
But the ground was CURSED!
The 1st mention of word BLOOD in the bible. Genesis 4:10 -11 Abel was the 1st MARTYR.
Martyr- a person who willingly suffers death rather than renounce his or her religion.
Word “Martyr” and word Witness same word- Death doesn’t make martyrs it just reveals them!
STEPHEN’S blood made the difference to PAUL!!!
Many missionaries gave CANNIBALS their first TASTE of the Christianity- Literally!
ABELS BLOOD SPEAKS OF WORSHIP
11:4 a “excellent”
Able was the first to have faith. Adam and Eve walked by sight.
Either way of CAINS or way of the CROSS. One is based on REVELATION the other REASONING. One leads to HEAVEN the other HELL.
Abels faith made him the 1st martyr- Cains- 1st murderer!
Cain the CULPRIT tries to CONCEAL the CRIME and BURIED the BODY,
but the Blood cried out as a witness against him! He was exiled from Eden
Able had a faith worth dying for!
This morning we remember as a memorial the life he lived and the Lord he loved! 11:4c
Abel speaks of the COST and CONSOLATION of faith!
WE are BLOOD BROTHERS with Abel in more ways than one!!!!
II. THE SOLDIERS’ BLOOD STILL SPEAKS
II. THE SOLDIERS’ BLOOD STILL SPEAKS
We sit here this morning because BLOOD was shed. Freedom comes at a cost-freedom isn’t free.
Sadly the last Monday in May has become merely a marker of the beginning of Summer, much like Labor Day marks its end. It carries no meaning other than a day off from work, the start of the summer travel season, or for the annual Memorial Day sale.
You sit here this morning because BLOOD was shed. Blood was shed by Soldiers who fought for freedom!!!
Memorial Day is observed with the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, and by religious services, parades, and speeches nationwide. Flags, insignia, and flowers are placed on the graves of veterans in local cemeteries.
On Memorial Day, the flag is flown at half-mast, a symbol of mourning, from sunrise until noon, and at full staff from noon until sunset.
When you think of a memorial such as the Vietnam Memorial Wall, the Unknown Soldier, and other war memorials in Washington, D.C., or the Alamo in Texas, or the sunken Arizona in Pearl Harbor, or the Ground Zero, we are reminded that a memorial is a place of remembering.
A blanket of buried tombstones covers cemeteries across the nation -- Fathers, brothers, and sons who fought for freedom , put their lives on the line and gave all!
We are the LAND OF THE FREE because we are the HOME OF THE BRAVE!
The blood of the battles- Valley Forge, Bunker Hill, Yorktown, Normandy Beach, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Beirut, Grenada Lebanon, Afghanistan and Baghdad!
The cost for freedom was paid in blood.
2 Timothy 2:3–4 (AV)
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
We live in the land of the free because we are the home of the brave!
Men who paid the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.
A blanket tombstones in cemeteries across the nation are covered with flags as memorial for those husbands, Fathers, brothers, and who sons sacrificed their lives so that we might enjoy the freedoms we now enjoy –and their blood speaks to us this morning.
III. THE SAVIOR’S BLOOD STILL SPEAKS
III. THE SAVIOR’S BLOOD STILL SPEAKS
The greatest blood, out of all blood, is a blood that is still speaking today. It is certainly better than Abel’s blood. It is a blood that gives a great freedom than the Soldiers blood. The soldiers blood only gives us a temporal and physical freedom.
No, the Savior’s blood gives us an eternal freedom.
Blood has a voice to pierce the skies, “Revenge” the blood of Abel cries
But the dear blessed stream, from when Christ was slain
Speaks peace as loud from every vein!
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
The 1st memorial in scripture is in Ex 12 when I see the blood!
Last memorial day is the Lords Supper in which we partake of the broken body and His blood that was shed.
Jesus' BLOOD was SPOTLESS --- He was the PERFECT SON!
Jesus' BLOOD was SHED --- with such PAINFUL SUFFERING!
Jesus' BLOOD was SPRINKLED --- as a PURE SACRIFICE!
Jesus' BLOOD SPEAKS --- making a POWERFUL STATEMENT!
A. HIS BLOOD SPEAKS OF REDEMPTION
A. HIS BLOOD SPEAKS OF REDEMPTION
Acts 20:28 says we are "purchased with his own blood"--that is, we are bought, redeemed.
No other blood could do this for us. No ones else's blood could provide what Christ’s blood supplies. No other’s blood carries the significance that his does.
ABELS blood speaks from the GROUND- while Christ’s blood speaks from GLORY!
Abel’s Speaks of JUDGEMENT- by it Cain was DRIVEN OUT!
But Jesus’ blood speaks of GRACE! – by it we are BROUGHT IN!
Abel’s blood DEATH- Christ’s blood - Eternal LIFE!
Abel was “A keeper of the sheep” Jesus was the “good shepherd!” and the “Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world!”
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
1 Peter 1:18,19 tells us we are "not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...But with the precious blood of Christ."
Revelation 5:9 says we are redeemed by the blood. Blood is our redemption.
B. HIS BLOOD SPEAKS OF REMISSION
B. HIS BLOOD SPEAKS OF REMISSION
Remission means : Abatement; relaxation
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Remissions of what - of sin. It is the blood that is the cure, the covering, the provision for my sin. My sins are FORGIVEN, FORGOTTEN & FOREVER GONE! Because of what Christ’s blood has done.
What cam wash away my sins?
C. SPEAKS OF RECONCILIATION
C. SPEAKS OF RECONCILIATION
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
- The OFFENDED is SATISFIED
- The OFFENDER is JUSTIFIED
- THE OFFENSE is NULLIFIED!
Jesus’ blood is forgiving blood, freeing blood, fellowshipping blood, flowing blood, fresh blood, fore-ordained blood, and forever blood.
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Not saved by WORKS!
Sin is either PARDONED IN HIM OR PUNISHED IN HELL “remission of sins”
And also… Don’t go around saying you don’t believe in works salvation and then say you don’t believe in eternal security.
If you believe in security but works you believe in salvation by works.
If works keeps you saved-then you are saved by works!
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
This Blood wont WASH OFF! Wont WEAR OUT!
We cannot be saved by WATER, Not By Works, Not by the wafer. All the
All the water, works and wafer or religion in the world will not wash away one sin!
Not saved by WHERE U GO- not building but blood!
It is not enough that Jesus died-- THE BLOOD MUST BE APPLIED!!!
The BLOOD MAKES THE DIFFERENCE between Christianity and all the other religions in the world!!
Each one was a SUBSTITUTE- for you!
Took blood for Adam and Eve to get out of Garden…..
It took blood for Israel out of Egypt…..
It still takes the blood of Jesus Christ to get you out of sin…..Into Heaven
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
