Intro

John 3:7 NKJV
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
My wife giving birth to Jacob-----
We had longed for a baby after losing Jaina 2008
We didn’t have Jacob until 2011.
The news of pregnancy comes with a lot of joy and excitement.
Towards the end it becomes uncomfortable.
I was super excited while she was in pain of child birth.
The end product is beautiful to behold.
After losing Jaina, and a couple of miscarriages we finally had our son.
That is why I gave him the name Jacob Samuel Rodriguez
Samuel was given to Hannah in anguish and prayer.
The name means “God has heard”.
Not to mention he was a pretty cool prophet.
Many times in our life the birthing process of being a christian comes with its ups and downs.
Some of us started being a christian in the past and aborted it.
The pain was too hard.
The changes happening within were too difficult so we aborted the birth of new life within us and returned to the old ways.
But we returned too the Lord to allow
When the Seed is planted in Us, it is up to us to allow the full growth of it.
As natural birth comes with its challenges and its pain so too, does our spiritual growth and maturity.
Part of the process to be a christian includes.
Belief
Repentance
Be born again

The process begins with Belief

John 3:15 NKJV
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Believing there is a God is a start.
But it cannot be left there with belief only.
James 2:19 NKJV
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
Believing there is a God is good.
But that is not enough.
Many people believe but still live as if He doesn't require anything from their lives.

There needs to be Repentance

Mark 1:15 NKJV
15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
It is to feel sorry for your sins.
Recognizing your need of change.
Recognizing your need for deliverance.
Recognizing that something is missing in your life.
Acts 3:19 NKJV
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
Feeling sorrow is good but a desire for change must follow.
Many feel sorrow for what they do, but never change.
God wants a conversion as the verse says.

Be Born Again

You believe in God.
You have repented of your sins and life choices.
Now you are to go through a lifestyle change.
This is the part that many fall short.
They believe in God and feel sorrow for their sins.
They love the idea of God as a Father and Jesus as a loving savior.
They love the feeling and the joy behind it all.
But God desires children.
John 3:3 NKJV
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
To be born again is to go through a process of change.
We all know that a baby in a womb goes thru 9 months of development before birth.
Many start the journey of being born again.
But many abort the plans of God in their lives because they do not allow the full process to come to fruition.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
All things have become NEW!!!
But that is up to you whether you allow it to.
In the parable of the Sower is sometimes called the parable of the Soils.
What type of ground will you be when receiving the SEED?
The parable says that some seed fell by the wayside and the birds came and devoured it.
Matthew 13:4 NKJV
4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
These are the ones who lack understanding of what it requires.
So the enemy comes in a snatches it up.
Those who are too distracted to pay attention.
Some fell on stony places, where they lacked earth. No roots.
Matthew 13:5–6 NKJV
5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.
These are the ones of find joy in the Word and grow for a time.
But as soon as the going gets tough they have no roots and fall away.
Some fell among the thorns.
Matthew 13:7 NKJV
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.
This is the one who allows the cares of this word to choke the life out of him.
The deceitfulness of riches and material things.
The one too focus on this world and what they can get from it that they dont grow spiritually.
And some fell on GOOD dirt.
Matthew 13:8 NKJV
8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
These are the ones who receive the Word, understands and allows for the WOrd to change them.
What kinda dirt you wanna be?
I wanna be good Dirt!!!
For that to happen
You neeed to ..
Ephesians 4:22–24 NKJV
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Let your mind be born again also.
Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Seek after the things above.
Colossians 3:1–4 NKJV
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Let the earthly nature die.
Colossians 3:5–8 NIV
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
The process of the new birth comes with new features.
Colossians 3:12–15 NKJV
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Galatians 5:16–17 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
Galatians 5:22–25 NKJV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
A Radical change
Many think out there that being born again is to act and look like the old person.
to be radically changed by GOd is to be radically changed by God.
Your mind is to be fully changed
Philippians 4:8 NKJV
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Let the WORD Grow in you and Change you.
I believe every person starts the process to be a born again christian when they decide to follow Christ.
Some don’t allow the process to work the new birth in them and walk away.
Some might have started it and are still unsure if they wanna follow Christ and have stalled the growth.
You started the process and maybe 2 years later it hasn’t grown yet.
But that depends on what type of dirt you will be.
Will you allow the WORD to GROW in you and CHANGE you into a new CREATION!!!
