Focus
Steven Lawson tells of an experiment the Texas A&M football team tried during spring training. The coaches mounted a small video camera on the helmet of the quarterback. They then proceeded to attach a set of goggles on his face mask with an infrared light that followed the focus of his eyeballs. Hence, the camera could videotape whatever the quarterback was focused on.
After practice the coaches watched the video. They could tell if the quarterback was able to pick up his primary receiver. Was he able to read the free safety? When did he look for his secondary receiver? The outcome of the game might depend upon where the quarterback was fixing his eyes.
How true this is in our spiritual life, too. Are our eyes fixed upon Jesus? Do we keep them there in bad days as well as good days?
