How many times in our life do we neglect the word of God and focus on our own beliefs and mindset to get us through what we are struggling with? How often do we compare ourselves to others and think that God has forgotten about us?
What does the bible say to us about trusting God?
One of my favorite verses in the bible is:
Matthew 6:33–34 LEB
But seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow, because tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
God does not tell me to seek the things in the world that i want to get, he tells us to seek his kingdom and the rest will be added on to us. Why is this? Why seek the kingdom before seeking the world? Many times what happens is that when we seek the kingdom first, the things that we thought were important to us before are less important. what we worried about so much becomes irrelevent.
I know this as a fact because when i do not seek God and his presence in my life i become more focused on this world and what it has to offer. Money, relationships, pleasures, entertainment, etc.
When i do seek God, i focus on what is to come and salvation. The things of this world have a lesser influence on my life and my anxieties and worries are lessened. I have a better focus on my relationship with God.
Our fear and troubles will not go away as long as we are alive, they may even get worse as we get older because more problems will arise but how we deal with them is more important. I would rather put my fears and worries in Gods hands who knows all things and sees all things to help me/guide me through them then to figure them out myself. I would rather trust God to provide for me then for me to get something myself and realize its not what i wanted.
God gives us a promise in this verse that he will provide for us as long as we seek out his kingdom. What may this apply too? I believe this applies to financial issues, relationship issues, family issues, our purpose, friendships, etc.
In my life i have had the opportunity to experiance many ups and downs. Some very tough ones that were very painful. Relationships that were not meant for me, financial uncertainties, what decisions to make that would affect the course of my life, etc. I learned alot and am still learning so much from each of these experiances. I know that when i have to trust on my self to make the correct decision, i will have so much stress and worries becuase i truly do not always know whats best for me.
When picking my job, I never ever thought i would have to quit becasue of vaccination. In my mind i felt i had the safest job in the world. How often we put our trust in ourself and rocks that are not rocks but sand. I know that when i see myself sinking, things are not going to plan, i get on my knees and back into Gods word because i know who he is and what he has to offer is much greater than what i can do with my limited mind.
