Not My Feelings But An Established Mindset
Not My Feelings But An Established Mindset
Isaiah 26:3 “3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Colossians 3:2 “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Feelings will, at times, cause your imagination to take you to a place that will unsettled and fool you into believing a lie! Feelings are not Faith - Faith makes no sense, therefore, when it feel as if it does not line up with my imagination, I become dejected, disappointed, frustrated and perplexed: Psalm 78:36-37
Because my feelings are hurt - I resist, become hardened, walled up, and seek pity! Because I have allowed my feelings to be hurt, now I am thinking of the hurt more than The Helper!
Out of All The Goodness of The Lord and all that He has done for me - I am going to allow “that” to trouble my Hope!
Knowing that I am kept by His Power - Reserved - Positioned to be revealed in my Season - knowing this, I yet allow my heart to be troubled!
Someone says; “that is not me. . .” yes it is! Because as soon as what you feel should not be said or done, you will become defiant and lean to your own understanding!
The greatest struggle; I, as your Pastor, and most Pastors face - is changing your lenses to see as God has instructed us to see!
Why? Pre-suppositions and Pre-Understandings - Preunderstandings are what we have been taught and we will seek The Word of God to conform to our own thinking and understanding - At times, we get offended when what we have been taught is threatened by The Revelation of God’s Word - Then we become offended and then pride enters in - “Pride does not listen. . . It always knows!”
Therefore; when we approach (Pre-Supposition) the text, we are approaching it from a perspective based off of our feelings, due to our Preunderstandings (Wild Imaginations)
Mark 7:5 (NKJV) 5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?"
They were missing The Word of God due to their loyalty to the religion and traditions of their fathers
Not completely to their fault, but at some point we must lay aside our thinking - pick up the revelatory Word of God - Colossians 1:26-27 (NKJV) 26 the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Established By God
Established By God
We have been made firm by The Word we have heard - Paul says in Colossians 1:5-6 “because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;”
Thru His Word - Preached by your Pastor - “Romans 10:14-17“ God has provided instructions in His Will and His Way - We know how to walk!
The problem we face is that we mix our faith with feelings - Yes, we do have emotions and they are elegant, but we must understand that faith does not require a feeling in order to be activated - Faith requires an action without thought!
We have seen God’s Wonderous Works - Heard of them - Yet we allow ourselves to be moved away from The Hope that has empowered us to be here today! Empowered us to realize that God has revealed His Mystery to us, which is we are embodied with The Promise - We have everything we need within us and when we set our minds on these things, we will remain established regardless of the circumstances!
When you do what you feel you are at risk of operating outside of God’s Instructions - Jacob and Esau (Rebekah)
