Intro

What is faith?

in the passage before this one faith is something tremendous

its a word used incredibly often to describe us but do we know what we are saying?

Romans 3:28

Assurance of Things Hoped For

Abram’s call

you will go and prosper your people and the world

you will have a son despite your age

the greater of the two he will never see

despite all of this he goes without hesitation

he faces hardship and still continues to be close to God

he is assured of that for which he has real hope

Conviction of Things Not Seen

Sacrificing Isaac

faith is more than something that is just in your head

more than simply knowing and believing something

Abraham believed wholeheartedly in the God who gave him a son despite all odds

Abraham believed in the God who took him as far as he did

Abraham believed in the God who upheld his promises even when Abraham was doubtful or unfaithful

he was convicted, moved to act on his belief

Application

Faith is being assured

Faith is being convicted

it is not ever one without the other

if your faith is not the cause of you going and moving mountains, then you have missed the point
