THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 19:1, 2
The Holy Spirit is the key to living a holy life. You cannot live a holy life without the Holy Spirit. There is a general ignorance today concerning the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of this message is to clarify in your minds things which you need to know concerning “The Ministry of the Holy Spirit.”

I. Who the Holy Spirit is.

A. The Holy Spirit is God: Acts 5:3, 4.

B. The Holy Spirit is a Person: John 14:17.

C. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity: Matt. 28:19.

D. The Holy Spirit is eternal: Heb. 9:14.

E. The Holy Spirit is Omnipresent (All-seeing): Ps. 139:7.

F. The Holy Spirit is Omniscient (All-knowing): 1 Cor. 2:10.

G. The Holy Spirit is Omnipotent (All-powerful): Rom. 15:19.

II. What the Holy Spirit does in relation to the saved.

A. He abides in the Christian’s heart through the new birth: John 14:16.

B. He dwells in the Christian’s body as His temple: 1 Cor. 3:16.

C. He adopts the individual into God’s family: Rom. 8:15b.

D. He seals the Christian until the day of the final redemption into Heaven: Eph. 1:13.

E. He desires to teach the Christian: John 14:26.

F. He desires to guide the Christian’s life: John 16:13.

G. He desires to control the Christian’s life: Eph. 5:18.

H. He desires to pray (make intercession) for the Christian: Rom. 8:26, 27.

I. He desires to perfect the person of Christ in the Christian’s life: Rom. 8:28, 29.

J. He desires to set the Christian apart for God’s use: Rom. 15:16.

K. He desires to impart the love of God in and through the Christian’s life: Rom. 5:5.

L. He desires to impart joy to the Christian’s life: Rom. 14:17.

M. He desires to impart life in the Christian’s life: Rom. 15:13.

N. He desires to plant the fruit of the Spirit in the Christian’s life: Gal. 5:22, 23.

III. What the Holy Spirit does in relation to the unsaved.

A. He strives with the sinner in regard to his sinful condition: Gen. 6:3.

B. He convicts the sinner of sin: John 16:8.

C. He desires to work the miracle of the new birth in the sinner’s life: John 3:5.

To ignore and quench the Holy Spirit is to doom the sinner to a Christ-less eternity. For the believer to be ignorant of the working of the Holy Spirit is to be doomed to a useless life on earth and a life without reward in Heaven.
