God adopts us as His own

We used to be like an heir that wasn’t able to reach the inheritance, but now, we are adopted fully as God’s children.
Because of the cross, we are able to be brought before God and He takes us as His children.
Because we are adopted as His, He takes care of us, going so far as to even give us the Spirit of God!

God frees us from our former way of living.

Before you give your life to Christ, you are enslaved to sin. (elemental forces)
You didn’t have the freedom that God can only give you, you had to follow after the sin that breaks you.
God, in adopting you and giving you the Holy Spirit, sets you free from all of that so that you don’t have to be a slave to sin.

Don’t give yourself to worthless things.

If you’ve decided to follow Jesus, then you’ve been freed from sin, so don’t give yourself to worthless things.
When Paul talks about , “Days and moths and seasons and years,” he’s talking about following festivals and different spiritual calendars that are ultimately useless when you believe in Christ.
So, for you, why would you go back to the way you lived before? If you follow Jesus, you won’t find anything better from back before you were a Christian
God frees you from sin so that you could follow Him and love Him forever, don’t go back to the crushing weight of sin.
