2 Peter 3:17-18 your therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Perception vs Deception

two different words that are 100% human factors that detour us from reaching the destination set before us.
Perception is what we think we see, know, or understand. Deception is tricks and lies to make us believe what we see, know, or understand.
Matt 7:15 - “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
notice that Peter is saying, to you who already know where God has brought you to and brought you from. dont fall away by the lawlessness and wicked from your current position.
Peter is giving the contrast of the attack of what a believer must go through and endure in vs 17.

lawless and wicked

what is lawless and wicked? In short anything that takes you away from the understanding of right, good standing, good morals. what can it be?
A person, a group, a movement, a material possesion, device such as a phone, the wicked and lawless come in many forms.
Being a good person does not gain us access into Heaven, being a faithful believer does!

Growth

As we grow, the perception and deception follow on different levels as well. But the ONLY way we can sustain, to grow in grace and knowledge. Our relationship is the key to know what grace and knowledge is in Vs 18.
