DISCUSSION

The Anticipation of His Ascension

The OT
Psalm 68:18 KJV 1900
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: Thou hast received gifts for men; Yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.
Psalm 110:1 KJV 1900
The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Daniel 7:13–14 KJV 1900
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Jesus’ statements
He was returning to the Father (Jn 7:33; 14:2-3; 12, 28; Jn 16:28)

Prepared the apostles for their mission (Acts 1:6-8)
Led them to the Mt of Olives near Bethany where he was taken up in a cloud (Acts 1:9-12; Lk 24:50-52)

Eph 1:19-20 “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”
Col 3:1 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”
1 Pt 3:21-22 “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.”
Made King (Acts 2:30-32, 34-36)
Made High Priest (Ps 110:4; Heb 8:1; Heb 9:24 Zech 6:13)
