Strait Out The Pen

Luke 15:17–20 NLT
17 “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.” ’ 20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
Focus: adapt to the prevailing level of light and become able to see clearly.
The center of interest or activity:
One The Worst Things That Can Happen is When you are laser Focused On a goal and somehow you loose your focus.
What I’d like you to honestly do this week. Is write down the 4 Most important things in your life..
And then answer these questions about them
How Much thought do you put into it daily?
How often does is spill out in random conversations with people
How much money & time have you invested in this thing over the last year
Once you’ve done that you will see whats your highest priority and whats your least.
Once you’ve done that start a new goal you wanted to start for while but never started like reading a book a month, taking computer classes. And lets see how long you can stay focused on that goal.
The Text is dealing with a continuation of parables Jesus is using to prove his point concerning Lost Souls Returning to God.
This Story is referred to as the Prodigal Son, But this story has a lot more meat then just one dude.
The Father , The Older Brother or i call (other brother) and The Youngest the Lost One.
Today I want to pull on the reason Why he Lost Focus and Then what he did to regain it.
Luke 15:11–14 AV
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
He lost his focus because He took for granted the way his father Provided, Protected and Covered him
He Lost his focus because he looked at the Level his Dad was living and figured it looked easy and he could do it too.
He Lost his focus because he thought he could take the blessing he wasn’t ready for and move away from his father.
He Lost his focus because he was a horrible steward over his inheritance. He squandered his wealth with wild living.
He lost his focus because he wasn’t prepared for the famine..
So his focus is so blurry that he finds himself hooked up with a citizen from the country
Talk about being connected to Citizen of the Country.
Let’s Look At How He regained his focus.
He Began Longing for something that was unnatural
Luke 15:16 NIV84
16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
2. No One Could Help Him!
3. He Came to Himself
Luke 15:17 (NIV84)
17 “When he came to his senses,
Do you remember how far you fell down the rabbit hole before you came to yourself?
he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!
Luke 15:18 NIV84
18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
4. He Got up, Hey Got Out & He Went Back!!!
His status hadn’t changed, People where still talking and laughing at him, he didn’t smell good or look like a Kings Kid.
He was bare foot, broke & embarrassed But he was never more focused in his Life..
See for the first time in his life, he didn’t have arrogant entitled attitude..
He was humble, Greateful and Repentful
Psalm 51:17 NLT
17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Bro was fresh out the Pen, with Focus he was going back to his father not for his rightful place as a son but as a Servant....
I wonder if there’s anyone that can be honest and say I lost focus come running up to the alter…
