05 - Creatively Sharing the Good News

Text: “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness” – 2 Corinthians 9:10, NASB

Theme: The Father provides for providers.

Intro: Today, I want to share seven ways you can creatively share the Good News. I especially want to build on what Daniel Heng taught last week. And the beautiful thing is that he taught by example and not just words. He first lived it, and then shared it––that’s what genuine disciples do. But before I share these seven ways of creatively sharing the Good News, let’s focus on one of the ways of God. Knowing this way of God and trusting it is the foundation for sharing the Good News. The Father desires lifelong obedience to him––a constant and continual walking with him through the heights and valleys of life. Too many Christians disappear and drop out when times are tough.

1) God supplies seed to the sower (2 Cor. 9:10).

A disciple of Jesus constantly and continually sows. That’s what it means to be a disciple.

It’s a life of giving and planting.

When you live to give and plant, the Father goes out of his way to supply the seed.

The Father especially provides for givers.

And here’s the deal: don’t wait till you have an abundance to give.

God’s sowers are those who abundantly give even though they have little. Think about the widow with two mites.

Think about the widow with just a little oil.

God multiplied her oil as she poured it into borrowed vessels.

The increased cost of living does not deter the Father’s sowers because our eyes are not on the winds and waves but Jesus (Matt 14:30).

Jesus lived a life of sowing though he had little possessions and was responsible for taking care of twelve disciples.

Sometimes Jesus’ disciples had a massive feast, and at other times, they were gleaning grain from the grain fields.

2) Sowing in faith is the mark of a genuine disciple (Luke 16:1-15).

Sowing in faith is the mark of a good steward.

Interestingly, Jesus teaches us about good stewardship from a wasteful steward (Luke 16:1-15).

Now He was also saying to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was reported to him as squandering his possessions. “And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’ “The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg. ‘I know what I shall do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.’ “And he summoned each one of his master’s debtors, and he began saying to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ “And he said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ “Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ And he said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ “And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light. “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings.

This wasteful steward woke up to his ways and practiced generosity.

What’s the purpose of the Parable of the Unrighteous Steward?

Jesus had a three-fold purpose in sharing the parable:

1 - Use all your wealth and resources for eternal purposes.

Use wealth so that people make it into the eternal kingdom.

Then, we you arrive in heaven, you’ll be met by an overjoyed welcome team, thank you for what you gave.

2 - Be faithful in the little things.

3 - You cannot serve both God and wealth.

When you give you can get nervous thinking, “What’s left for me?”

But here’s where God’s Word comes into play.

The Father gives seed to the sower.

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:38, NIV)

3) Here are seven creative ways to share the Good News.

Each one involves sowing into someone else’s life––it consists in giving and sacrifice.

But if you do it, you’ll receive a warm welcome in heaven.

I believe there is something here that everyone can do.

1 - Write (Matt. 13:34)

2 - Craft (Exo. 31:3)

3 - Bake & Cook (Heb. 13:2)

4 - Be Excellent (1 Cor. 10:31)

5 - Create Art (Gen. 1:1)

6 - Play Music (Ps 57:7)

7 - Act Kind (Acts 10:38)

Conclusion: Put these seven creative ways into practice and God will use you to bring about a harvest.
