“The missionary heart: Care more than some think is wise. Risk more than some think is safe. Dream more than some think is practical. Expect more than some think is possible. I was called not to comfort or success but to obedience… There is no joy outside of knowing Jesus and serving him.”
James 3:14–16 (KJV 1900)
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

Godly ambition fosters contentment with whatever obscurity or notoriety the Lord ordains; ungodly ambition creates coveting and competition.

John 21:20-22 “20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? 21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? 22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.”
Every day we should rejoice in the fact we get to know God from His Word, that we are saved, and we should rejoice in things that have nothing to do with us.

Slay wrong ambitions and daily resurrect godly ones.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
The opposite of selfish ambition is not passivity but selfless ambition.
