Pentecost Sunday 2022
Pentecost Sunday 2022
Good morning and welcome to Oasis Church, welcome to our online family, it is great to have you join with us today. If you are visiting with us, we welcome you.
I have titled my message today: Filled with the Spirit.
LETS PRAY
Pentecost -
Was the birth of the early church
Holy Spirit came as Jesus had promised
Point 1
You shall receive power and then be witnesses
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Holy Spirit in our everyday lives
We will be witnesses:
Homes
Schools / Work places
Communities etc.
Point 2
All were filled with the Spirit of God - It was important for the believers to wait, it is to their advantage
On the day of Pentecost* all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages,* as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
5 At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem. 6 When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers.
7 They were completely amazed. “How can this be?” they exclaimed. “These people are all from Galilee, 8 and yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages!
Holy Spirit gives us the tools to go

Point 3
David said - My soul thirst for you
Psalm 63 (NLT)
A psalm of David, regarding a time when David was in the wilderness of Judah.
1 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.
3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!
4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.
6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.
7 Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.
9 But those plotting to destroy me will come to ruin. They will go down into the depths of the earth.
10 They will die by the sword and become the food of jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God. All who swear to tell the truth will praise him, while liars will be silenced.
Point 4
If anyone is thirsty let them come to me, they will be filled
37 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! 38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ ”* 39 (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given,* because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
