Don’t Be Envious of Sinners
Don’t Be Envious of Sinners
Psalm 37:1-5
Psalm 37:1-5
“1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”
Introduction
Introduction
It’s a hardly a day that goes by that we don’t see people living a life that’s the complete opposite of how God says we should live and what you’ve heard me preach.
To our youth especially; You probably see drug dealers riding in fancy cars and noisy speakers. You look into the media and see your friends and entertainers going viral and it seems they are blowing up with likes, going viral, and they are even getting paid well.
Maybe you’re asking yourself why are you trying to do good when everybody is prospering doing things what God says is evil?
1st-Pont - Do not fret
1st-Pont - Do not fret
To fret about something is to become angry, be displeased, and grieved about something.
The people who seem to be having a good time and having a lot of stuff while they’re living in sin are only living a temporary and short life of pleasure and possessions.
So don’t get angry because they have a good time, while it seems you’re struggling and maybe even bored trying to live like the Lord wants you to live.
To envy is to:
Desire to have what someone else has. In this case, a desire to live like others are living.
Be unhappy over someone else’s progress or possessions.

The life you see sinners living is very short-lived and in the end it leads to suffering. (verse 2 tells us they will soon be cut down like grass.)
If you read Galatians 6:7, you will find that sinners aren’t fooling God. It may seem like they are getting away clean in their wrong, but the wrong they are sowing they will soon reap.
The ones you see living a life of sin will soon have to reap what they saw. You’ve heard of karma? Karma isn’t biblical, but it’s a word people go by which is the same as Galatians 6:7. Allow me to share with you what sinners have to reap when they commit:
Sexual immoral acts i.e. adultery, fornication, homosexuality, and lesbianism, they reap: early and unwed pregnancies, fatherless children, emotional scars, STD’s, and a whole lot of drama.
Criminal and Gang activities: they reap prison sentences, death, broken families etc.
I remember a well known drug dealer in Macon during the mid 80’s. He was making so much money that he bought all of his drug gang brand new vehicles and he brought a house valued in the tens of thousands in a neighborhood where doctors lived.
All of the young brothers wanted to be like him and some were even recruited by him. They sold crack-cocaine and I saw hundreds of lives and families being torn apart because of this drug.
A few years later, him and his crew, his wife, and members of his family were arrested and sentenced to serve many years in prison. There were even some family members who became very sick.

Delight yourself in the Lord.
Take great pleasure in being in the Lord’s presence. I am delighted when I come to church. I get a chance to be in the presence of God and see all of my family when I come.
I delight in doing what I know the Lord would have me to do - have you ever done something good for someone and you got a good feeling all over and your day was peaceful from that point on?
Commit your way to the Lord and trust Him. Trust everything to the Lord! Everything!
Commit yourself to the Lord’ and trust Him. You will experience a far greater reward than the short-lived pleasures of sinners.
If you delight, commit, and trust in the Lord He will supply everything you need and some of what you want.
Conclusion
Conclusion
Don’t worry! Your time is coming and you will achieve what you desire in a righteous way.
Don’t be lured by what and who you see. The way of sinners is a short path that leads to destruction.
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding in all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. (Proverbs 3:5)
Jesus said in Matthew 7:7-8 “7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
All you have to do is ask and you will receive what you’re seeking if it’s in God’s will.
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t receive what you’re asking because I believe He has something far better than what you seek?
Don’t worry, don’t fret about what sinners are doing. God isn’t through with your life yet. Keep looking to the creator of all things! He wants to bless you.
