REASONS FOR THE OLD TESTAMENT

Isaiah 55:11

A lot of people have chose to do things with the OT:

Reject it entirely (quote - “we don’t sacrifice anymore” or the God of the OT is judgment and the NT He is love, we choose love”)

Reject it partially (cults)

Reject it theologically (Charismatics, Catholics, Calvinists)

Here are four REASONS God wants you to keep reading and studying the Old Testament:

I. Foundation.

Psalm 11:3 AV

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Psalm 12:6–7 AV

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Psalm 138:2 AV

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

II. Preparation.

Isaiah 40:3 AV

3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Malachi 3:1 AV

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
