Part 3 – Wrong Motive for Miracles = Pride
Background:
The moment he returns to Galilee the Jewish leaders begin to attack him.[1]
Pharisees demand a sign – only Jonah given
–Attitude difference- pride vs humility
The Hurting came to Jesus – the Pharisees waited for Jesus to come to them
· Desire - to be healed vs to be impressed
· which one are you?
· Once you know God, Never demand a sign from God to prove His deity.
Result - Jesus helped the hurting but refused to entertain the skeptics
· Blessed are the pure on heart, they see God
· Motives- wholeheartedly, sincere vs selfish.
Miracles Explain the Kingdom
Yeast of Pharisees
Teaching spreads in the heart like yeast in bread – whether good or bad.
· Just because a claim, quote or statement “goes viral” does not automatically make it true.
· Millions of people CAN be wrong.
· Like the miracles of the fishes and the loaves, We must be careful to multiply God’s Word in the earth, more than man’s opinion.
Only then will miraculous signs follow, confirming God’s Word.
