II. The Concern vs. 10-21

A. After an alter is spotted, Israel gets ready for war with brothers!
B. Before going to war, they sat down and talked. Pro. 19:20

Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days.
C. They lovingly yet sternly warned them about the cost of rebelling against Yahweh.

III. The Solution vs. 22-24

A. The repetition of 3 different Hebrew names of God was a way of making a strong oath. They were in essence swearing to them and to God, that his was not the case.
B. These tribes were wanting to show the other tribes and their descendants, their devotion to God. They had already proved it, but they had wanted to show it. It was a simple case of miscommunication complication.
C. The matter is peacefully resolved. This shows us the importance of giving someone the benefit of a doubt.
