If you have your Bible with you this morning we are going to pick back up in Romans Chapter 6.
The more and more I dive into this letter the more appreciate Paul’s dedication to helping believers grow in their relationship with God.
That is exactly what Paul is doing in Chapter 6.
He is moving us through the process of Salvation in the entire life of the believer.
Salvation is a life process.
If you remember back a few weeks we broke down this process.
Step 1: Justification
Step 2: Sanctification
Step 3: Glorification
As we step into today’s scripture we are going to see Paul lay out the process of sanctification.
Something to remember today.
God meets you right where you are at.
This is Justification!
Justification is the act of God whereby He forgives the sin of an unsaved person and credits/assigns to them the righteousness of Christ when through faith they believe.
God loves you too much to leave you where He found you.
This is where Sanctification comes in.
According to the Assemblies of God.
Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God.
Sanctification is the act of separating ourselves from sin.
This is not about works it is about alignment.
Sin is like a bad relationship.
It brings out the worst in you.
It leaves you lonelier than it found you.
It embarrasses you in public.
It destroys you in secret and once it has a hold of you it is difficult to get free of.
In today’s section of scripture Paul lays out Six Strategies for Breaking Up with Sin.
Strategy Number 1: Remember that you have been Justified.
To be justified is to be made right.
I have to remind myself I have been made right therefore sin is no longer my master.
Strategy Number 2: Realize you have been united with Christ.
Because He Died We Died.
2. Because He was we were buried.
3.
Because He was raised from the dead we were raised form the dead.
