Today’s Text:

1. Temptation is not from the Lord.

2. Temptation comes from our own desires.

many of us don’t know the evil that lurks in our own heart.

I would say of myself that I know the big stuff that lurks, the stuff that from my nice christian up bringing that I know I shouldn’t do, but there is other stuff that I don’t see until i see it in others and it get’s on my last nerve.

Jeremiah 17:9 “9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”

our hearts don’t want us to know that we are deceived.

Because if we know that our hearts are deceived.

we will start testing the things in our hearts by the scripture and then we will walk in the truth subjecting my heart to the will of God.

James 1:14 “14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.”

notice that verse says “each one, ” no-one is amune to temptation.

all temptation looks different.

that’s why the Holy Spirit brings conviction to the heart if man not man.

when we give unto our desires sin is born.

sin brings death.

James 1:15 “15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

3 The Lord will deliver us from the evil one!

no temptation is new.

every once in a while we don’t see it coming because it gets a new set of clothes.

but we all struggle with our flesh.

God us faithful!

not in regards to what I give him, rather it is who he is.

we dint turn ti him because of guilt and shame, rather than turn to the God who sent His spirit so that we can reflect jesus rather than where i come from our who I am.

Reflections:

in order to be the person God is calling me to be I am going to have to call sin, sin.

I need to recognize it for what it is.

Finally we are going to have to be humble enough to cry out to God.
