The New King James Version (Chapter 1)
Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Understand this morning as I speak I’m not bashing any other church, I’m not here to tear down anyone or any church, I’m here for us Omega Church of God.
We must reclaim the Power of the Holy Ghost given us by Jesus. Too many are seeking the Holy Ghost for personal reasons, they are seeking Him to fulfill self-gratifications.
He is more than being slain in the Spirit so others can see and talk, He is more than speaking in tongues so others can gawk or make fun of, He came so that you and I would be able to fight the good fight of faith.
The gyrations of dancing to fulfill your desire and then sitting down after the music stops is not true worship and it is not a sign of Pentecostal Power.
True Pentecost is real and life transforming, the facade of being Spirit filled is not an option, you do not have to fake it till you make it.
Jesus said you SHALL receive power! This is not a maybe thing, but a reality, as matter of fact Jesus called it a Promise. “ Behold I send the PROMISE!
And we need this Promise again active in the life of the believer. Jesus it will make you a witness.
The Spirit enables you to do what you cannot do on your own.
Acts 3 Peter and John going to pray addresses the lame man and heals him towards the end of the chapter as they were gathered
The New King James Version (Chapter 3)
Acts 3:12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
In Acts 4: Peter and John are on trial for what has happened in chapter 3, verse 23 says
‘ when they saw the boldness… realized they had been with Jesus.” they were commanded not to preach and teach in the name of Jesus.
But, these were not the same disciples pre Pentecost they were timid and scared, but Post Pentecost, they were supernaturally charged not by hype or charisma, but by a power that transformed them from timid and afraid to bold and courageous.
Something that were not and could not become on their own.
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Jn 14:26.
Man, I wish i could get you to see Sunday after Sunday and Wednesday and any other time I preach or speak this verse get fulfilled in my life.
He, the Holy Spirit helps us to witness
WORSHIP
In John 4 Jesus confronts the woman at the well, about worship. there again what we cannot do The Holy Spirit teaches us and guides us to the place in which we are needing to be in.
Worship in this mountain; worship in Temple in Jerusalem, True Worship comes from with in prompted by the wonderful works that Christ has done and from within our spirits we worship.
Mary with her alabaster box; her worship wasn’t about a place, it was about the works of Christ and she realized this fact and fell down before Hm and WORSHIPED!
The New King James Version (Chapter 24)
Mark16:49 “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
Paul stated, I have fought a good fight...
Jude said Earnestly contend for the faith...
it was the Baptism of the Holy Ghost that prompted His disciples to say whether we are to bey man or God you decide.
But, on the Day of Pentecost; when it was fully come and the sound of a rushing mighty wind came on cloven tongues of fire fell on each of them and they were filled with the Spirit something happened on that day.
They became spiritually confrontational, their minds were made up no longer are we going to be shoved back, no longer will we shirk away from our calling, but with boldness we will proclaim the Gospel.
