Think ahead to a time
When your little ones are grown;
Hold them tight, don’t lose sight
Of the blessings you have known.
Think ahead to a time
When your little boy’s a man
And you’d give anything
Just to hold him again.

A Time for Everything
3 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
· The Average Adult spends 8 hours a day on either their phone or TV
· The Average teen spends 9 hours a day on either their phone or TV
· We watch 3.2 hours of Netflix a day
· Collectively that is 6.2 billion hours wasted on Netflix
· The average person also spends minimum of 2.2 hours a day on the various social platforms.
In contrast a barna study revealed that 1/3 of US Adults read the bible once a week. While 50 % of US adults read the bible once a year. YIKES.
Post Covid the entire family attends church an average of once a month.
We see an unhealthy reality that unfortunately has plagued the current state of the world and has became a primary source of Anxiety and Depression in not only teens but Adults as Well.
James 4:14
yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
9 The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.
8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
What Is Quality Time?
According to Author Gary Chapman quality time is that centers around togetherness. It's all about expressing your love and affection with your undivided attention.
Today I want to lay out 7 Habits that I believe will transform you and your family.
1. Personal Time with God(Parent & Kids)
· The Reality is before we serve anyone or invest time anywhere scripture is pretty clear on how we are to Love God with all of your heart mind and soul
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
1 “Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, 2 that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long.
2. Worship Time(Church & Family)
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
8 So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
Family Devotions
1.Set Realistic expectations
I am not sure about you but I have never been able to lead a bible study with my family for 1 hour or an hour and half. We have to realize that sometimes you might have there attention and sometimes you might not.
2. Keep it simple
There is a time and a place to go deeper in study. However I encourage you to keep it simple and possibly begin with going over a book at a time. verse by verse with zero expectations. Just simply read stop and discuss what you just read.
3.Pick the easiest time
4.Pray throughout
5. Ask questions and listen
6. Use your resources
7. Have fun
8. let them lead
9.Pray out loud
10. Stay faithful
3. Communication:
34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
· Intentional time to check on your family
· What made you happy today? What made you sad today? What are you asking God for?)
· Put link in for Torins sermon
4. Downtime/Funtime ( Sabbath-Weekly,Quarterly, Yearly
The focus of the Daily Office is to be with God, not to get something from Him. It is about communion, abiding, remaining in Jesus.
Moreover, the Daily Office is about meeting with God not once a day but pausing to be with him 2-3-4 times a day.
Psalm 27:4 “One thing I have asked of the Lord. That will I seek after That I may dwell in the house of the lord all the days of my life.”
Psalm 119 :164 Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous rules.
So why pause not 1x a day to be with God, but two or three. times? The answer - So that when I am active the other parts of the day, I am attentive to God and His voice.
The reality is that just one day can be extremely exhausting. They are so many instances that come up throughout the day. Why not Pause and Say God I need you.. its lifegiving!
SABBATH-The word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew word that means “to cease, to stop working.” It refers to doing nothing related to work for a twenty- four hour period each week.
If you have went through emotionally healthy spirtuality you are familiar that There are 4 essential Principles to maintain a Sabbath and I am going to review each of those.
1. Stop
Sabbath is first and foremost a day of “stopping.”
Yet most of us can’t stop until we are finished whatever it is we think we need to do. We need to complete our projects, answer our e-mails, return all phone messages, and complete the balancing of our check books, finish cleaning the house. There’s always one more thing to do before stopping.
The Sabbath calls us to build the doing of nothing into our schedules each week. Nothing measurable is accomplished. By the world’s standards it is inefficient, unproductive, and useless. As one theologian stated, “To fail to see the value of simply being with God and ‘doing nothing’ is to miss the heart of Christianity.”15
We stop on Sabbaths because God is on the throne, assuring us the world will not fall apart if we cease our activities. God is at work taking care of the universe. He manages quite well without us having to run things.
2. Rest
Once we stop the Sabbath calls us to rest. God rested after his work. We are to do the same—every seventh day- resting from our paid and unpaid work. We rest from things like hurry, physical exhaustion, catching up on errands, technology and machines. Again, what is rest to one person may not be rest to another. When we stop and rest, we respect our humanity and the image of God in us.
3. Delight
A third component is perhaps the most important. A biblical Sabbath revolves around delighting in what we have been given. God, after finishing his work of creation on the first Sabbath, proclaimed that “It was very good” (Genesis 1:31). God delighted over his creation. He beamed with delight.
On Sabbaths we are invited to enjoy and delight in God’s creation and its gifts. That is why if the day turns out to be a lot of “Don't do this.” And “Don’t do that,” we have missed the point.
We are to slow down and pay attention to the innumerable gifts of life God has provided for us to enjoy. We are to take the time to see the beauty of a tree, a leaf, a flower, to taste our foods, and to really see the people God has placed around us. Finally...
4. Contemplate
That is – we see the invisible God in the visible creation. Because we are stopping our work, we intentionally focus on seeing and receiving God through all of life. We ponder His love as it comes through things like food and nature. We slow down to see His gifts. It is true we want to do this on all 7 days, but in particular, we want to train ourselves to see the invisible God in the visible world around us
5. Community Service- once a week CAYA FCA VBS)
