I. David’s Cry vs. 1-2

A. David was crying out loud. He was by himself in a cave, when he did this (maybe), but he did this to get it all out. It really does help.
B. David prayed for the Lord to do something. It was years before it was completely resolved. Our trials take time, not because God isn’t able, but He is working in ways we can’t understand. Isa. 55:8-9
Isaiah 55:8–9 NASB95
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.
C. He pours his complaint, means it’s continual. It’s a moment by moment deal.

II. David’s Condition vs. 3-4

A. David was overwhelmed. David was depressed. There are many symptoms but 3 most common causes for depression.
Medical (Heart condition. Cancer treatments etc.)
Chemical. (Hormones, Chemical imbalance)
Situational.
It is okay to get help, you cannot always pray it away.
B. David felt like he was alone. When you are depressed you will feel alone even when you’re not alone.
C. What you can do, is be intentional on what you take in, in order to help with your outlook.

III. David’s Change vs. 5-7

A. David kept himself abiding in God. Abide=home. You can be as silly or serious with God as you want, but you’ve got to live in a state of mind, that Jesus is with you wherever you go.
B. David was real about the situation, he faced it.
C. While living in present, abiding in God’s presence, he look forward to the outcome, and praised God for it like it was going to happen tomorrow.
D. David helped others. I Sam. 22:1-2
1 Samuel 22:1–2 NASB95
So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father’s household heard of it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.
