Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
(Urban Dictionary) Baggage:
An issue regarding a person's past that can affect their current disposition: addictions, debt, diseases, bad habits, past relationships (significant other or family), or kids.
Fella 1: Dude, she's pretty cute. Would you date her? Fella 2: Probably not. I heard she carries a lot of baggage.
Baggage is another word for the bags you put your stuff in when you travel. It’s also known as "luggage" or "suitcases." If someone says you have baggage but you’re not holding anything, they’re talking about emotional baggage.
Have you ever had an encounter with someone with emotional baggage?
They have a lot going on in their life?
We are all on a journey in this life.
I like like to call it.... “The Faith Journey”
John 16:33 ESV
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Tribulation: distress (state) n. — an oppressive state of physical, mental, social, or economic adversity.
Baggage is needed!
I asked Caleb, If we were going on a trip, what are you going to pack?
Toys
Costumes
Swimsuit
French Fries
He packed according to his wants not his needs!
It’s not about the baggage
It’s about whats in the bag!
When I pack my bags according to my own understanding....
Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Lean: to depend on rely v. — to put trust in with confidence.
Own: Me / Myself / I
Understanding: understanding (capacity) n. — the capacity for rational thought or inference or discrimination.
Inference: a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
Discrimination:
I am putting into my bag what I feel is necessary based off of my own reasoning.
I’m not dealing with them anymore!
What do you think I should do?
It’s time to do me!

When I Trust in the Lord....
It’s like Caleb trusting in me to pack his bag for travel....
I am depending on the Father
to pack my necessities…
In military terminology, baggage is any equipment that can be carried or hauled along. This is the original definition, from the Old French baggage, "military equipment."

Ephesians 6:12 ESV
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
God is not preparing us for a battle against flesh
It’s spiritual Battle…
1 John 4:4 ESV
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

To live:
Self-controlled— in a wise manner as keeping self-control over one’s passions and desires.
Upright: justly adv. — in accordance with moral or social standards.
Godly: — showing fitting and proper respect or reverence to (a deity or other deserving figure).

In the Name of Jesus!
