This week we spoke about being a workmanship of God. How God has uniquely designed and created each and every single on of us.
This idea is built out of of Ephesians, specifically in the second chapter.
To build up to our theme verse, we will do a quick synopsis of verses 8 and 9.
Verse 8:
We are granted faith by our gracious God as a gift. God miraculously works in us and draws us into His kingdom out of the realm of darkness.
Notice the emphasis is o the grace of God. It is God who is kind and merciful, and we who are rebellious and dead in our sin.
Verse 9:
Verse 9 solidifies this sentiment, by building off the idea that God’s gift is totally from Him, and not dependent on works.
It is God who is the initiator and finisher of salvation so that n one can boast.
Verse 10:
In arriving to our theme verse we can now have the proper lense to see it through.
Notice three things:
We are His workmanship- God is the one working, He saved us, and continues to mold our hearts in the likeness of Jesus.
We were born again in Christ for good works- God saves that we might do good works as a fruit our new found salvation.
God has prepared these good works ahead of time for us to do.
God is author and perfecter of our salvation and of all of history, and thanks be to Him that he graciously calls us to be a part of His Holy Kingdom, the question is, have you been brought in?
