Intro: Can anyone define worldview?
Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics (Worldview)
“A worldview is how one views or interprets reality. . .It is the framework through which or by which one makes sense of the data of life. A worldview makes a world of difference in one’s view of God, origins, evil, human nature, values, and destiny.”
How about a biblical worldview?
SEEING the entire WORLD through the LENS of the BIBLE’S TEACHING…to BELIEVE RIGHT versus WRONG ACCORDING to what the SCRIPTURE teaches us, to KNOW the TRUTHS about GOD, JESUS CHRIST, and MANKIND.
I love LBC’s mission statement: LBC | Capital exists to educate Christian students to think and live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him in the Church and society.”
Both to think…and to live…a biblical worldview.

Open with the FINALITY of the NEW COVENANT.
Hebrews 1:1–4 ESV
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Three Questions:
1. According to this passage…who spoke? - God
2. Through whom? - the prophets & finally through Jesus Christ, the Son.
3. And where are all these things recorded? - The Bible, OT & NT
As we all know, GOD has SPOKEN to humanity primarily THROUGH His WORD!
The message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the FINAL message to humanity from God.
There is NO NEED for NEW ADDITIONS to what God has said to us.
GOD HASN’T CHANGED HIS MIND.
FLESH/EXPERIENCES TEMPT to CHANGE our OPINIONS…GOD’S WORD = ROCK, SURE FOUNDATION.

The APOSTLE PAUL wrote to his spiritual son TIMOTHY…IMPORTANCE OF SCRIPTURES
2 Timothy 3:14–17 ESV
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul was speaking PRIMARILY of the OT but we know as Christians this includes the NT.
Some PEOPLE want to “UNHITCH” from OT…but this was the BIBLE that JESUS READ.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Scriptures were WRITTEN to TEACH us…to CORRECT us…to TRAIN US to BE RIGHTEOUS…and to EQUIP us.
SCRIPTURE = BELIEVER’S AUTHORITY = WHAT WE APPEAL TO
NONBELIEVER HAS NOTHING TO APPEAL TO.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAST PART of a biblical worldview is actually LIVING it:
JESUS’ CONCLUSION to the sermon on the mount:
Matthew 7:24–27 ESV
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
“Rather, we must build a solid foundation that combines authentic commitment to Christ with persevering obedience”- Craig Blomberg
STORMS in LIFE will TEST true FAITH & WORLDVIEW...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Point: I want to challenge you guys in life to interpret your world through what the Bible teaches, and not to interpret your Bible through what the world teaches.
Your worldview will be challenged:
at school
at college
at work
with friends
with family
basically everywhere. At some point it will be challenged.
You have to be rooted and committed to a biblical worldview ahead of time to make it through these tests in life.
