INTRO
Have you ever noticed that the values in our nation have changed?
There are many voices that capture our attention and try to shape the way we see the world.
Maybe you’ve caught yourself thinking about things differently or entertaining ideas of compromising values you would have thought you’d never considered before.
In our post modern world where truth is relative and influences are bombarding our minds, our perspectives can get complicated, even when they don’t have to be.
There is a vanishing beauty in simplicity and in firmly founded focus.
We need to get back to a singular, life-directing focus. We need to get back to focusing on the Word of God and the voice of God in our lives!
1 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. 7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
1) KNOW YOUR SHEPHERD!
1) KNOW YOUR SHEPHERD!
Right now, your view of yourself and your life are being shaped by a multitude of influences.
Social Media, News, Advertisements, Cultural “Correctness”, Peer Pressure, Government Pressure, etc.
I am quickly starting to think that June is a great month for a fast from all media.
The forced indoctrination of “Pride Month” is sickening. The redefining and mockery of God’s sign of promise is appalling!
All of this is by design to influence you…to make you compromise and “accepting” of godless and demonic ideologies!
There is a constant onslaught of thieves and robbers jumping your fence to steal your joy, kill you convictions, and destroy your relationship with God.
Don’t listen to the voices of this world! They are no longer your shepherd.
When you surrender to Jesus and become part of His flock you are no longer a goat in the world, you are a sheep that belongs to flock of God!
2) KNOW YOUR SHEPHERD’S VOICE!
2) KNOW YOUR SHEPHERD’S VOICE!
Focus on Jesus and His Word!
Know His voice…know when He calls.
The more time you spend with Him the less time you spend with the thieving and robbing voices.
The more time you spend with Him, the more you recognize His voice and His ways.
We used to call this, being sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Spend time with God and in God’s Word to grow in your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit of God.
3) OBEY YOUR SHEPHERD!
3) OBEY YOUR SHEPHERD!
It is important for our lives as Christians to be devoted Christians who not just hear, but also obey.
Jesus says that the His sheep hear His voice and He leads them.
You can say Jesus is leading you if you are going a different direction or staying put when He is going elsewhere!
Often we don’t follow because we are unsure of where Jesus is leading. We want the details before we are commited to the way, but you are not the shepherd!
Stop trying to be the shepherd or to force the shepherd to clear his plans with the sheep.
He leads, we follow.
If we do not listen to and follow the direction of our shepherd, we are not journeying towards life, but towards hardship, headache, and heartache.
Only the shepherd knows the way to life because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. All other roads lead to lostness, lies, and lifelessness.
