Introduction
Introduction
On this day we celebrate Pentecost. Pentecost to Jews was and is a annual one day harvest festival that is held seven weeks, or 50 days, after Passover, as instructed by God the Father. At Pentecost, also known as the Feast of Weeks, Israelite farmers would start their journey towards Jerusalem to present their firstfruit offering. This was the norm. Yet this particular occasion something different happened. Jesus had ascended back to the Father in Heaven. The Disciples and other’s gathered and on this day, there was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This comes the fulfillment of the Promise of the Holy spirit and also this was the Birth of the Church of Jesus Christ. Yet what catches my attention this morning is the first two words that we find in Verse 2 of our scripture today, “And Suddenly.” And is a conjunction. It is used to connect words of the same part of speech, clauses, or sentences, that are to be taken jointly. Such as Bread and Butter, Brother and Sister, Husband and wife. But even more interesting to me is the word Suddenly. Suddenly means quick and unexpectedly. It means Immediately, instantaneously, all at once. The text says “ and Suddenly,” when you put those together, it tells me that something happened and then quick and unexpectedly, without warning, or preparation, the Holy Spirit had come and the church was born. There was no meeting, no conference, no Pastor, no deacon, no mother, no trustee, all it was were the Disciples and the Holy Spirit. Can I submit to
you that God wants to give you a suddenly experience? What God is getting ready to do for you is about to be suddenly. It is That leads me to ask the question, What happened before the “and suddenly?” God told me in my preparation that the Holy Spirit coming didn’t just happen, it was by design. When you design something, it has to be placed just right for it to come together. it had to be set up. So on this Pentecost Sunday, I wanted to talk to you about the Set-up for Suddenly
