Road to your Destiny

Opening Statement:
Here is what I believe God wants to do tonight.
God wants to give you personal Revelation about your Promise & your Destiny
He wants to set your heart on FIRE with a new zeal for life.
I believe if you are willing to be honest with God you will walk out of here today ready for tomorrow, you will get healing, and you will experience the radical LOVE of JESUS
Here is what it will take, open heart, open mind, and you will have to die to your pride.
Story behind the message:
As I was asking the Holy Spirit what he wants me to talk to you guys about He dropped the word “DESTINY” I knew Holy Spirit was up to something, when something in my heart leaped.
Here is what I heard Holy Spirit say
A lot of my people are walking through life believing that their PROMISES have passed them by and their DESTINY is far fetched.
Psalm 89:34 (NLT)
34 No, I will not break my covenant;
I will not take back a single word I said.
Here is why I believe God wants this message out
People are hopeless
Depressed
Full of Anxiety
All because they forgot the greatness that is in them.
There will be circumstances that will try to take you out
But as we keep going you will see how if we submit to the process it will actually benefit you
Thats when you can kick the devil in his teeth.
Ok lets talk about the word DESTINY
DEFINITION:
Destiny: The Events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future
Something to which a person or thing is destined.
Synonyms:
Devine Decree
Devine:Of God or From God
Decree: An official order issued by a legal authority
Gods Will: Over your life
Portion: Gods portion in your life
Let that sink in!
Now think of every promise that God has ever made in your life.
He doesn’t take anything from you, even if you feel like you deserved it.
It was so interesting it said “one word related to Destiny is AFTERMATH.”
I immediately heard:
Destiny is the Aftermath of a Promise.
So I have two stories that I want to unpack as we look at Promise - Process - Destiny
Abraham:
Genesis 15:1–15 (NLT)
The Lord’s Covenant Promise to Abram
2 But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth. 3 You have given me no descendants of my own, so one of my servants will be my heir.”
4 Then the Lord said to him, “No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.” 5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
Key Points:
Promise was the son
Abrahams Destiny was to be a Father of a Nation from which Jesus came!
Your Promise is personal
Your Destiny is Generational
But there was something required of Abraham - FAITH
Let me tell you what happened....
If you feel like you missed the mark this is going to be very encouraging for you.
Recap the Story About Ishmael
He was a product of lack of faith in the process
So when when we don’t allow ourselves to go thru the process of going from Receiving our Promise and Believing in the Promise to Walking in our Destiny.
If we don’t do that we can produce an Ishmael.
Which is not the actual promise.
Did Abraham have a son? Yes
Could we say Gods Promise was fulfilled? Sure (he had a son)
The point I want to make with the story about Abraham is he didn’t submit to the process.
Instead he choose to take it into his hands to make it happen
As a result he created two nations that have been at war with each other centuries.
But.....his mistake didn’t take away the Promise, As a matter effect in Chapter 17 God reaffirms his Covenant with Abraham.
So if you are sitting here and thinking BUT I screwed it up! Nope you didn’t your Promise is coming.
So how do we know when its the Promise or we are about to produce an Ishmael?
You will have to stay in relationship with the Holy Spirit
You will feel like your doing it in your own strength
You will feel tired and burnt out
Okay, so this next story I believe will really help you with walking in your destiny without strife and with God.
Joseph:
Genesis 37:1–4 (NLT)
1So Jacob settled again in the land of Canaan, where his father had lived as a foreigner.
2This is the account of Jacob and his family. When Joseph was seventeen years old, he often tended his father’s flocks. He worked for his half brothers, the sons of his father’s wives Bilhah and Zilpah. But Joseph reported to his father some of the bad things his brothers were doing.
3Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe.
4But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.
Key Points:
Joseph was a favored son
He was a snitch (thats what I would call him)
Side note if you’re a parent don’t fall into the trap of playing favorites.
He was loved by his father but hated by his brothers because of that.
Can you imagine hating someone so much that you can’t find a kind word to say?!
Let’s keep reading....
Genesis 37:5–11 (NLT)
5One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever.
6“Listen to this dream,” he said.
7“We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine!”
8His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.
9Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. “Listen, I have had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me!”
10This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. “What kind of dream is that?” he asked. “Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you?”
11But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant.
Key Points:
So here we have Joseph given a promise that he is going to be a ruler over something.
My thoughts reading this is okay if I knew I was despised by my siblings I would probably not share a dream where I believe they will be bowing to me.
Joseph is young, and his character has yet to be developed for him to step into his Destiny.
So God takes him on that journey.
Paraphrasing Joseph being sold into slavery
Joseph goes to see his brothers on the field
They first want to kill him, but then decide to sell him into slavery.
He ends up being purchased by Potiphar who is Captain of the Guard for Pharaoh
Minor detail, so when you get sold into slavery, you are a slave till you die and your children are automatically born as slaves
I don’t know about you but that seems the complete opposite of his Promise!
Read....
Genesis 39:1–4 (NLT)
2The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.
3Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.
4This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned.
Key Points:
The Lord was with Joseph
Notice it doesn’t say anywhere that Joseph was somehow striving, trying to prove his worth.
He was trusting the Process and in that God was developing his Character.
Okay this next story I am going to read is like a bad movie where you know what’s about to happen and you’re on the other side of the screen screaming nooooo.
Lets read.....
Genesis 39:6–23 (NLT)
6So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat! Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man,
7and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded.
8But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.
9No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”
10She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.
11One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work.
12She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, “Come on, sleep with me!” Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.
13When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled,
14she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running. “Look!” she said. “My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed.
15When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.”
16She kept the cloak with her until her husband came home.
17Then she told him her story. “That Hebrew slave you’ve brought into our house tried to come in and fool around with me,” she said.
18“But when I screamed, he ran outside, leaving his cloak with me!”
19Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her.
20So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained.
21But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.
22Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison.
23The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.
Key Points:
So we have here Joseph being seduced
Lied about
Thrown into prison
Joseph was also being tested
But nowhere in that story does it say “Joseph was defending his honor and his Truth”
You see it says “But God was with him and he showed him his faithful love” and I believe Joseph knew that.
So he chose to trust God even in the lowest point, he knew God has his back.
Because he kept the promise in front of him and it didn’t matter what he had to go through to actually walk in his Destiny.
Make’s me think of all the stories in this room
Jana and Jehovanne is one of them! Imagine if they gave up on their Promise and Destiny?! We wouldn’t sit here.
Did it hurt to go through the pain of slander and lies?! Oh I am sure...
But they knew God was with them in their pain, he loved them with his Faithful Love he saw the unfair treatment, he saw it all.
If you are sitting here and its hitting home, Can I ask that you let the Holy Spirit to come in tend to that pain.
You see I can tell you that Gods Love is Faithful till I turn blue, but until your not going to experience it for yourself it’s only Words
One way for you to experience the love of the Father is to go to the darkest moment of your life and ask “God where were you?”
Because here is the thing one way that the enemy will try to get you off course is by causing havoc in your life
Especially if he knows it will cause you to question the love of God and his motives.
So lets keep going...
The redemption is coming I promise!
Paraphrase Chapter 40
As Joseph is in Prison he ends up interpreting two dreams
One for Pharaohs Chief Cup Bearer
One for Pharaohs Chief Baker
Both dreams went exactly as Joseph interpreted.
When I was reading this I thought to myself (Man if I was Joseph I don’t think I would be interpreting anyones dreams)
Like at this point I would feel like I got it all wrong with my own Dreams.
Thats for someone.... DON’T doubt in the dark what God told you in the light!
Movie script continues…TWO years later.
Pharaoh is having dreams that no one could interpret.
Finally after two years the Chief Cup Bearer remembers about Joseph.
Joseph is called before Pharoah
Joseph finally get his moment to shine with his gifting but instead here is what he tell Pharoah
Genesis 41:15–16 (NLT)
15Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream last night, and no one here can tell me what it means. But I have heard that when you hear about a dream you can interpret it.”
16“It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied. “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.”
He allowed God to shine thru his gifting, not himself.
He could of used this to elevate himself for a position
Pharoah could clearly use his gifting
If he presents himself as important maybe that might get him a position and he could be that much closer to his Promise
But he didn’t do any of that because use see through all the trials and tests he developed a character of Honor and Integrity.
It makes me wonder what if he took all the credit for his gifting of dream interpretation would he fail his test?
Would it have prolonged his process to walk in his Destiny?
Joseph ends up interpreting the dreams
Joseph gives Pharaoh heaven instructions based on Pharaohs dreams that would later save his family from famine and preserve a Nation.
God has foreseen the famine and he used Joseph to save what Later became The 12 Tribes of Israel
One of which is the Tribe of Judah and we know who comes from that Lineage Jesus!
So you see Josephs Promise was that he would Rule
But his Destiny was to save a Nation from which Jesus would come.
Joseph becomes the Ruler of all of Egypt.
Genesis 41:37–42 (NLT)
37Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials.
38So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?”
39Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are.
40You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.”
41Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.”
42Then Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in fine linen clothing and hung a gold chain around his neck.
Key Points:
He gets the second highest position in all of Egypt
All because Pharaoh recognized that the Spirit of a Living God is activating in Josephs life.
So now lets look at the life of Joseph and what are some key takeaways?.....
Your promise still stands even when it seems far fetched or your loosing sight of it
If you are going through a season of just hardships, trials, and tests. Don’t waste them learn from them, let yourself grow and be stretched.
In trials is when our Character is tested
When tests came Josephs way he A’s them.
If you have a stigma around the word Test, like I used to have let me try and help you with it.
When I went with William to the ER to get his scalp stitched the other day I was very happy to know that the doctor that just sedated him and put the stitched passed his tests.
Now apply that to life, I love listening to people who I know went thru hell and back and they used it as teaching lessons
They carry so much wisdom
So all that trials means is you are being prepared to step into what God has called you to do on this Earth.
Imagine this scenario
17 Year old Joseph
Adored by his father
Hated by his brothers
Gets a Position as the second highest in Command over a Nation
He has zero grit
His character at this point might be ok but we also know he told on his brothers
This would of been a simply a disaster
Self Destruction
He would have been a product of an Ishmael.
As I wrap up this tonight I want to share with you guys our personal story about
Promise Process Destiny
Very early on into our Marriage like 1 year maybe, we received our first prophetic word from Pastor Clyde and one of the things he prophesied was
I see God Blessing you financially
Well right before we came to Tiffanees house we were in a restaurant for Mother’s Day and our cards were all getting declined. But when he prophesied that something in me shifted because here is what I knew.
We have a dream to fund Orphanages
We want to fund the kingdom
When we heard stories of people who gave away house and cars we always said it would be us
But you see Pastor Clyde at that point new us for 5 min so he possibly couldn’t know that but God did.
So our process of tearing down and rebuilding began......
Over the next few years we found ourselves being audited by 3 different Government enteties
IRS
LNI
DOR
What I am about to say we I don’t we ever shared, We found our selves over half a million dollars in debt to the government AKA Legal Maffia.
We were crushed, absolutely crushed. But here is what I knew...
Our Promise was to be Kingdom Funders
Our Destiny is to leave a Legacy of Wealth.
By the way Wealth is so much more than money.
Money is a currency which can be measured
Wealth is immeasurable
Legacy of Wealth is what have we done with our money (because when I get to heaven I want God to say “Well done, the Legacy Wealth you left behind is immeasurable)
We have seen our greatest tests and trials in finances and I would love to stand here to tell you we passed them. Nope we had many retakes.
There were moments....
I wanted to throw in the towel
File for bankruptcy
But the most beautiful thing about Holy Spirit is he will never let you forget. I remember when we had gotten our last audit and I felt like this is it
We are loosing our house
Our cars
It just felt hopeless
That was when we said the magic words
God ONLY YOU CAN PREFORM A MIRACLE
We fully surrender every situation, every outcome, and ourselves. We Trust you!
But wait here comes the test, if we actually meant what we said.
Thank God we did.
So out of nowhere Ailiyah gets infected Salivary Gland....
She is 2.5 years old
Two day of ER visits, CT scans
They send us to Seattle Children’s Hospital
Surgery
Almost a week admitted there
No Insurance
And we have complete peace .
All tough anyone we talk to is telling us man expect a minimum of 150k in bills
We come back...
Call from the Financial Department
Asking for Insurance
I tell them we don’t have insurance, the lady I believe was heaven sent because after years of trying to get insurance I couldn’t get even Prenatal Insurance. Always paid out of pocket.
5 min into our conversation
All of our kids get State Insurance
I never saw a single bill not even a statement
Instantly wiped out.
I knew if God can do that he can take care of the rest.
But I believe it was because we truly submitted ourselves to the process, everywhere we looked God would remind us of our Promise and Destiny
I remember us walking through the hallways after getting discharged and we came across a thick binder and in there it had names of people who made donations to the Hospital 5m 3m 2m
And again we looked at each other and said can you imagine being able to give like that
And I remember Michael saying “We will”
God does not take back a single word!
Even though you guys we really screwed it up sometimes
But remember about His Faithful Love
Same with Business....
He sent a man that honestly treats Michael like his son.
He put his business in order
We were able to negotiate 250k debt with a 65k payment
Our finances were resurrected from ASHES
And hear me I am only sharing this because I want you to know what God is capable of.
Here is what the process between Promise and Destiny will do to you
It will teach you to have Faith only in God
It will teach you to tune in to the voice of the Holy Spirit
Every false Idol will die (money and possessions used to be my idols)
You will die to pride
And you will be ok loosing your dignity (because dignity is overrated)
If I cared about my dignity you wouldn't hear my story right now
Your Character will be in likeness to Gods
And what you thought you can handle you will learn that you can not only handle it, but you can over come it.
Based on what I will be sensing in the room...
Either do an Alter call to let go of feeling like the mess up is beyond repair
Failure
Expectations
If someone is feeling angry at God for current circumstances
Asking where God is in current circumstance
Ministry time.
