Purpose:
Genesis is here to reveal where we come from (chapters 1-2), Who put us here (1:1; Psalm 33:6; John 1:1-3, 14; Colossians 1:16-17), who God’s chosen people are (chapter 12), to reveal why the earth is in the condition it is in (chapters 6-8), why we are the way we are (chapters 3, 11), and the history of the patriarchs (chapter 12-50).

Genesis 3:15
Here are the INGREDIENTS that make up the coming of the Messiah.

I. The Enmity.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman,
“Enmity” – a state of natural or active opposition.
The very basis of Biblical separation.

II. The Evidence.

and between thy seed and her seed;
The seed is male.
The Son is male.

III. The Enemy.

it shall bruise thy head,
Christ came to conquer Satan, not make friends.
Christ came to save sinners FROM their sins.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

IV. The Execution.

and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The Lamb was to be slain.
John 1:29 AV
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
The Lamb was to be salvation.
