1 Peter 2:1-10

Pray
Remind the congregation of what we have been talking about.
Nimrod
His influence
Type and shadow
Talked about the tower of Babel and the building of the city of Babylon
The builder intentionally chose to use bricks
We talked about a few verses where God gives instruction on building an altar.
He gives a similar instruction when building the Temple in Jerusalem.
God instructs to use fieldstones, natural stones uncut stones.
The type of stones were to be Salem.
Whole, complete, devoted and at peace.
We talked about how the enemy wants us to appear as bricks.
He wants to conform us to his image.
to the image of prideful humanity.
Like the Tower of Babel.
We looked last week at a number of instances where God instructs the people to build using fieldstones.
We did not have time but there are other places in scripture where the Lord instructs the people to set up stones of remembrance.
These stones were to be uncut.
They were to serve as a means to cause the people to remember

Deuteronomy 27:4–6 NIV
And when you have crossed the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I command you today, and coat them with plaster. Build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool on them. Build the altar of the Lord your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God.
Back up a bit before addressing the living stones verses to 1 peter 1:13-25
