I. Repentance vs. 1-5
A. The church should be healing and leading in repentance, reconciliation, and restoration, instead of shooting our own wounded and gossiping about them.

B. When we repent we are asking for grace.
C. While we can’t handle the consequences of our sin, nor other people’s grudges as a result, we know that God will not hold past sin against us, if we repent of our sins.
Others might, but God won’t.
If you think He is, then either you’ve didn’t truly repent, or you’ve mistaken Satan for God.
D. In order to truly repent, we must acknowledge our sin for sin, don’t call it sickness, a mistake call it for what it is.
E. Remember while others are affected by our sin, we’ve sinned against God and God alone, it was His holy law that you broke.

II.
Reconciliation vs. 6-11
A. Reconciliation is the facing the consequences of our sins, and accepting the forgiveness from God and hopefully others.
B. During a reconciliation process, you’ve got to come clean, and change sinful habits, much like rehab.
C. Hyssop was the plant they used to apply the blood to the doorpost during the passover.
When we repent we are asking for Jesus’ blood to wash us, during our reconciliation process, we are accepting this as a fact.
D. God breaks us, in order to heal us during this process.
E. David didn’t want to end up like Saul.
You can’t lose your salvation, but in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit didn’t reside in believers.
That didn’t happen until Acts 2 at Pentecost.
III.
Restoration vs. 12-19
A. At restoration, you get your joy back.
B. You rebuild your testimony.
It won’t be what it could be, but it will be a picture of grace.
C.
You get your song back.
David hadn’t written a song in a year or two, until he repented.
You get your gifting back.
D. You should stay with a broken spirit, and heart.
As well as a contrite (tender) heart.
Don’t say you deserve________ or it’s nobody’s business, but that you are open to rebuke from the right people.
E. Then you will see the blessings of God.
