The Methods of the Kingdom
When most people think of the Book of Revelation what comes to their minds is the Great Apocalypse.
The word apocalypse never actually appears in the Bible, but it has come to be heavily associated with Scripture.
It does not, however, mean what most people believe it signifies.
“Apocalypse” does not mean “the end of the world.”
It does not refer to the destruction of Earth, a violent end to life or any of the other disastrous scenarios the word usually conjures.
“Apocalypse” comes from the Greek apokaluptein which means “uncover” or “reveal.”
In religious terms, an apocalypse actually refers to the end of an age.
Life might well continue on, but things will have been irrevocably changed.
As such, the resurrection of Christ could technically be considered an apocalypse because of how clearly the world was divided into “before” and “after” the event.
(Hertzenberg, Stephanie; Six Biblical Terms that Do Not Mean What You Think They Do; https://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/christianity/6-biblical-terms-that-dont-mean-what-you-think-they-do.aspx)
In Revelations 1:20 Yeshua explains that the seven lampstands are the seven churches in Asia Minor.
These are believers in Yeshua who are grafted into the Covenant through Christ.
The seven stars are the seven angels of the seven churches.
The word “angel” is malak מַלְאָךְmeaning messenger.
It comes from an unused root meaning to be dispatched as an ambassador.
Each event, like light, exposes that which is a part of the covenant of Christ and that which is anti-covenant with Christ.
In essence, all is being revealed.
Dr. Wheeler states that when the lamp gets low on oil and the flame goes out, the wick turns black and starts to smoke.
So they would just throw the old wick away, put a new one in and start over.
But in Matthew 12:20, Yeshua restates the words of Isaiah 42:3, “a smoldering wick He will not quench until He brings justice to victory.”
When you are out of oil, your soul is blackened and you smell like smoke, Jesus does not throw you away.
Instead, He cleans you up, fills you with new oil and lights a flame that burns brighter than before.
Proverbs likens the spirit of man to this lamp that Jesus renews and fills with fresh oil, holy oil, that burns with the light of Jesus Christ.
So how does this relate back to the menorah and Revelation.
In the Book of Revelation we see a pattern of sevens.
In fact, Jesus reveals this pattern starting in Matthew 15 feeding the four thousand with seven loaves of bread.
Afterwards they took up seven baskets of extra bread.
At the Passover meal Jesus broke the bread and said they had to eat His flesh.
Many were offended because one of the words for flesh in Hebrew is basar which has to do with the foreskin of covenant circumcision.
But, Dr. Wheeler states, “Jesus used the word basar בָּשַׂר which also means Good News.
Jesus was saying, you must eat My Good News.”
Again, in Revelation you see this pattern of sevens.
The determination of Pentecost, each year, begins by counting seven complete weeks (49 days total) starting within the spring Feast season (Num.
28:26, Deuteronomy 16:9 - 10).
The day after this perfect cycle of days is the fiftieth day, which is designated a holy convocation before God.
No servile work is to be done on the day and special offerings were made to God in thankfulness of his blessings from the wheat harvest (Exodus 34:22).
God commanded his people to proclaim a unique yearlong period after the completion of seven sets of seven years (49 total).
This fiftieth year, proclaimed with a trumpet on the Feast of Atonement (Yom Kippur), is known as the year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25:9).
In Hebrew the number 49 is מט the parent root which is Mem Tet.
In Ancient Hebrew script the Mem is a wave or spring of water (mayim) and the Tet is the image of a snake coiled in a basket.
Prior to this it was two sticks that formed a cross to mark ones property.
The word for forty-nine (MT) means chaos mark or death.
The Mem represents a spring of living water or that which flows naturally at the hand of God.
Examples include Jacob’s well, Yeshua the Spring of Living Water and the water that flowed from Yeshua’s pierced side on the cross.
Through the ages the Mem has taken on other meanings such as the Living Water’s of Torah as well as nations or peoples.
The Tet is formed from a zayin and a vav.
It represents a choice between yetzar hara (evil inclination) and yetzar hatov (Good inclination).
If the man bows to the crown and humbles himself, taking upon himself the yoke of the Christ, walking in righteousness and allowing the Spirit of God to grow within him, he is saved.
Failure to accept this salvation, and process of conversion unto His Lordship, means the soul refuses to bow and becomes rebellious taking on the nature of the nachash (serpent or satan).
This can only result in real death or eternal separation from Adonai.
But Christ has fulfilled the desire of the Father.
Speaking of the righteousness of Abraham, the Apostle Paul states this:
Christ came that your hearts may be circumcised.
That you may bear the Mark of God.
So many Christians have anxiety in these days about not getting the Mark of the Beast.
Folks, if you do not have the Mark of Christ, you are already marked by the beast.
If we spent more energy and efforts concerning ourselves with the Mark of the Kingdom of God which is Christ in us we would be the Bride better for it.
So what does the Mark of God look like?
Seven attributes (MARKS) of the circumcised soul: (Dr.
Doug Wheeler)
Hesed חֶסֶד - Loving Kindness; basis of musar (ethical instruction); not prompted by an event or outside source but just a natural act of obedience
Gevura גְּבוּרָה - Strength produced by binding that which is separated from the whole such as making of the tzitzit צִיצִית.
“String won’t stop you from sinning but being bound to Christ will” (Dr.
Doug Wheeler).
Shiviti שויתי – Balanced place before God; we don’t get caught up in the praise or criticism of others.
Netsach נֶצַח – Endurance or Perseverance; overcoming fear by submitting them to God and you don’t give up least you doubt the goodness of God.
Anavah עֲנָוָה – (Bittul בִּטּוּל– selflessness) Humility; James 4:1-10; Bring yourself to nothing in the face of God.
Nullify self.
Yasad יָסַד - Foundation; debaq דָּבַק; to cling to God with His Law as your foundation for living.
Malkuth מַלְכוּת - Kingdom Community!
You are part of something bigger than yourself.
(Shoe box with rocks, lid tapped shut; shaken together)
From Genesis to Revelations, Jesus is the Light of the World.
He was the light of the Garden of Eden, He was the burning bush, He was the light of the Tabernacle, and He is the Light unto salvation.
Let Him be the light of your life that others might see.
The Mark of God is the Light of the Christ.
Do you bare the mark?
Has your soul been circumcised or is there still a lot of flesh?
