The LORD Reigns

How you see, think about, and imagine Jesus will have significant implications for your life! The awe and draw of Jesus will lead to fear, trembling, and willful allegiance. Willful allegiance is the blessed life.

YOU WILL BE BLESSED! Psalm 1 & 2 are the gateway Christians must enter through to both understand the collection of Psalms and rightfully employ them to guide our thoughts and create an map for our emotions.

Blessed… Connection Psalm 1 you are blessed when you delight and mediate on God’s word…

Psalm 2:11-12 You are blessed when you submit to God’s Anointed One.

You are blessed when you submit to the authority of Jesus the anointed authority of God. The only safe place from the wrath of God is in God.

Is there an ultimate authority?

We all have some kind of authority..

Psalm 1 & 2 set a template, a distinction between the righteous and the wicked… The wise and the foolish.

Psalm 2:1–3 NIV

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”

The rebellious, inward curve, of humanity (SIN) misinterprets God’s bonds of love as shackles of slavery.

Sociologist have defined our current time as: THE ANTI AUTHORITY AGE

THE ONLY THRONE I SUBMIT IS THE THRONE I AM ON… OR THE PERSON WHO MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I AM STILL ON THE THRONE OF MY RIGHTS (LIFE)

HOW DOES GOD RESPOND TO HUMANS REBELLION, HUMAN ATTEMPTS TO ASCEND TO THE THRONE?

Psalm 2:4–9 NIV

The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

Why? BECAUSE THE THRONE IS OCCUPIED!

What makes Him so special?

Philippians 2:5–11 NIV

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The blessed, wise, and right, path is to follow the victorious King- Jesus Messiah.

What is our proper response?

Psalm 2:9 (FSB): This verse is alluded to several times in Revelation (Rev 2:27; 12:5; 19:15)

The right response is to be wise- recognize Jesus Authority.

Psalm 2:10–12 NIV

Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Allegiance is the response to the Draw and Awe of the Exalted Jesus.

What is that like… to rejoice with trembling

Awe and draw… Ocean… Grand Cannon…

Prayer for us… That there would be an awakening to the reality of Jesus Authority as God and King…

Imagine Him… What does he look like? (HYMN: Gentle Jesus ) gentile meek and mild…

Fall on their face terrified.

What you just experienced… don’t tell anyone.

Believer, how you see, think about, and imagine Jesus right now will have significant implications for your life! How you approach him in your prayers, sing to him in worship, how you talk about Him to your Children, Grand Children, and those far from God.

Unbeliever, has anyone shared this reality with you? The true and full ENCOUNTER OF THE ANOINTED JESUS CHRIST? Or do you imagine the humiliated, humbled Jesus, meek and mild. How you think about Jesus will affect how you spend eternity

What is we prayed and reflected on Rev 1, Jesus ruling and reigning

Let’s say you are wrestling with sin… Let’s think about what an understanding of Jesus ruling and reigning might have on that struggle.

IT might look like this… KING JESUS, THIS FLEETING TEMPTATION PALES IN COMPARISON TO THE SATISFACTION WORSHIPPING UNHINDERED BEFORE YOUR THRONE.

TODAY I CHOOSE YOU AND OBEDIENCE OVER THIS SIN…

SINS OF SELF RULE… KING JESUS YOU SIT ON THE THRONE AND ARE THE ONLY ONE WORTHY OF HONOR AND PRAISE SO I TURN MY EYES OF ME ONTO YOU!

HIS GLORY AND HIS GRACE!!

“IF I COULD ONLY THINK OF JESUS AS HE IS IN THE FLESH, HIS HUMILIATION, IT IS POSSIBLE, THAT I MIGHT JUST BE WORSHIPPING A BUTLER. WHO JUST EXISTS TO MEET MY NEEDS. OR PERHAPS AN EMT WHO I ONLY CALL ON WHEN I NEED HELP. OR MAYBE A SANTA CLAUSE, WHO I JUST EXPECT TO BRING ME THINGS THAT I WANT. THIS JESUS WAS MADE FOR ME! HE’S KINDA MY MASCOT.

BUT IF I CAN THINK OF CHRIST JESUS AS HE WAS IN THE FLESH AND HIS BURNING HOLINESS AND UNAPPROACHABLE MAJESTY ON THE THRONE OF HEAVEN AS THE SON OF GOD… I AM NO LONG WORSHIPPING A MASCOT I AM WORSHIPPING A MONARCH. I WAS MADE FOR JESUS. TO SERVE, WORSHIP, AND ADORE HIM.”
