1 Corinthians 10:12 KJV 1900
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

The word ‘wherefore’ is a transition word that connects the previous statement.

Paul is helping us to understand that false security will be our downfall.

1 Corinthians 10:5 KJV 1900
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

God want us to rely on Him and not on ourselves for security.

Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.

When we start relying on ourselves we invite sin to live in us.

Mark 7:20–23 KJV 1900
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Pride is a sin that will keep us from standing.

Proverbs 16:5 KJV 1900
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Proverbs 16:18 KJV 1900
18 Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall.

If we rely on God to keep us from falling we will endure to the end.

Proverbs 3:7–8 NIV
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

God want us to stand and not fall.

Jude 24 KJV 1900
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Matthew 24:13 KJV 1900
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
