James 1:17
Summery of the attributes of God in this verse: God is the Unchanging, gift giving, author of every good and perfect gift.
Gift giving
We think of God as a selfish hoarder
We think we have to pry his hands open to give us something good
Reality: His very heart is to give gifts (HE LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER)
Notice the quality of his gifts :Good and perfect
Why is there a disconnection between our perception of God’s gift giving heart and his true heart?
Our sin nature naturally tells us that the only good things are ease, luxury and pleasure.
Author of every good and perfect gift
Quality of gifts: He only gives you good and perfect gifts
If its good for you
to suffer, to lack,to wait, to persist through many long nights of prayer, to be encouraged, to advance, to be promoted, if it is good for you God will give it.
Rom 6:23 The Wages,But the gift
Unchaning, immutable
His good and kind character towards his people will never change
He will never give you anything but good and perfect gifts!
