Intro

There is an old saying, “You can choose your friends but you cant choose your family”.
True words.
Families often have plenty of love but very litle grace.
Jesus is a great example.
and he even said:
Luke 4:24 AV
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
This is a reality. Families can be difficult. They are not like strangers or even aquantences and frineds. Friends we can drop but with family, we dont have that option, unless the situation is very severe.
In our visions passage we are told:
Ephesians 3:15 AV
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
As a church we are a family.
And that may sound good, but it actually is problematic.
If were we were all friends it would be fine, but we are not all friends, wde are family.
And that means that we have quite a rough road ahead of us in the local church.
We are commaned by God:
Ephesians 4:3 AV
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
At first glace that may sound simple enough, but it is far from easy.
A local church living in unity is a paradox, an oxymorob.
A local church i a group of fallen reprobate sinners, a group of liars, theves, blasphemers, adulteres, coverters...
The list goes on.
Asking this lot to live and fellowship together in harmony and unity is, by all human accounts, impossible.
Truly the wordsof Jesus are true:
Mark 10:27 AV
27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Now, yes we are not the same wretched sinners were once were.
We are born again, made new and led by the Holy Spirit.
But we are not all at the same maturity.
Conflict is a garantee in any church. Just look at the Corithian Church.
Sueing each other, cheating each other, bullying each other.
For the church to obey God’s command and keep the unity of the Spirit, we are going to need an attitude adjustment.
In fcat, if we look at the attitude Paul tells us we must have we will see how big this problem actually is.
Ephesians 4:2–3 AV
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
The only way forward it develop and ciltivaye these dreaded attributes.

Lowliness

This is the greek word tapi-nos-fros-trinye.
It means a sober, proper valuation of yourself.
