Matthew 13:31-33 “He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.””
The mustard seed is tiny. The tiniest of the seeds in the ancient area of Palestine and the middle east, yet when planted it produced a massive bush. A bush large enough to even harbor the birds of the air. Something so small, but it grows into something great.
Leaven: Yeast causes bread to rise. If you made dough, and you left it as it is, it would eventually dry out and become a flat lough of bread. But when you add the yeast, depending on how much you add, the dough will rise and give way to the beautiful bread that we so desire. Yeast is a leavening product. A little yeast, or leaven, will produce a large chunk of bread. Faith in regards to heaven may seem small, and the world may even tell you that it is a small chance, but look how mighty it is.
You can never reach the kingdom of heaven without faith. Did you know that there are people out there that believe the earth is flat? Why? Because first off they are ignorant, but secondly they have not seen the earth from space. They ignore the evidence and see the world for what it is, and what they see is flat. Even the Bible tells us that the earth is round. Isaiah 40:22 says “It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;”
Do you believe that dinosaurs existed? Why? You have heard about them, you have studied them a little, people have written books. History tells us little about these beasts, but we go off of bones and things we found. Yet we wholeheartedly believe.
The Bible is a phenomenal history book. It speaks of ancient kings, and kingdoms that we have known to be true. Ahasuerus who appears as the Persian king in the book of Ester is none other than king Xerxes in the Greek history that we most know of.
King David was actually a figment of imagination until a coin was over turned in an archeological dig in of the ancient area of Dan. All that we had in proof of David was the Bible itself, until they overturned a stela that had the inscription of the house of David etched into its facing.
The Bible says that the earth is free floating in space. Job 26:7 “He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.” Well in 1650 it was discovered that the earth was free floating, and that we revolved around the sun and not the other way around.
Psalms 8:8 “the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.” God speaks of the currents in the ocean, but in the 1800’s Matthew Maury took God’s scripture and he found these currents in the ocean. Proving validity of the scriptures.
John 20:29 “Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.””
The simple definition of faith is to believe in something without first seeing it. It is a complete trust in someone.
Faith has to do with things that are not seen and hope with things that are not at hand.— Thomas Aquinas.
The biblical definition is the assurance that the things revealed and promised in the Word are the true, even though unseen, and gives the believer a conviction that what he expects in faith, will come to pass.
God our Father has made all things depend on faith so that whoever has faith will have everything, and whoever does not have faith will have nothing. — Martin Luther
The kingdom of heaven is hidden in plain sight. God gave us His word, which is a road map to what is coming our way. For those who love and trust Him. It takes faith to follow God, but faith is all that you need, and even a little faith that stands against the world will gain you an entire eternity of peace in heaven. Faith, even if it is as small as a mustard seed, if it holds up will grow into something greater than your wildest dreams.
Place your trust in God, and no matter what the world throws at you you hold on. Hold on tighter than ever to what you know is coming your way. If you have faith, and you hold onto it, no one can steal your joy.
