Exhortation
“Once upon a time...” Everybody has heard this phrase before, and when we hear it we our interest is piqued, because we know that a story follows. This saying is a literary device that introduces a narrative, or a story. It’s a beginning. A genesis.
Today is our genesis. Now in a very real, yet unseen way this day was established before the ages began as Paul writes in Titus, but he continues, “at the proper time he manifested...” So although the gathering of CBC Richmond Hill was established before the ages began, today he is manifesting it. Making it tangible. Making it real.
As it regards this narraitve, the story of CBC Richmond Hill, every single one of you has a “Once Upon a Time”. Your story linked with this gathering has a beginning. a start. Today, I’d like to really be vulnerable with you all and share mine.
So… Once Upon a time.
Always Missionaries. 2008 arabic, marriage, 2012-2019.
Abrupt ending. Yet, always knew we’d go back.
2021… something began stirring.
Struggled to get connected.
Christains were active on facebook regarding political perspectives, yet absent regarding incarnational ministry.
Somethiing was happening.
Amsterdam canceled.
A dream: Full of Americana.
Here we are.
Fearful
“What is your philosophy of ministry? Model of discipleship? What are you going to do for worship? What will your liturgy be? How do you plan to grow? etc. etc. etc.
Every day I felt like I was staring at my own incompetencies and insecurities. Then God spoke…
