Today I want to start by thanking you for the privilege to come and share in this event, this special day. When Frances asked me to come and be a part of praying a prayer of blessing over this place, it is an honour to be here.
Thoughts started to race through my mind with what I could share that would be encouraging and something that we can each take home with us.
Psalm 37:5–6 NLT
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.
I believe that this Scripture can apply to each of our lives, but it also can apply to this building.
LeRoy Community Church used to meet here every Wednesday night at 7:00. Covid 19 hit and everything came to a halt.
I think that it was November that we came for a Potluck and a meeting. There was a lot of work that was needing to be done. I thought to myself, who is going to step up and how is it going to get done. One by one people started to step up and fix lights, and paint, and things started to look up.
The Bible says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” It took faith and a lot of hard work to start to see paint go on the walls, the bowling alley start to change, and fixing so that it could become routine maintenance start.
I commend you for all that you have done. I want to encourage each one of us to commit everything we do to the Lord and to trust in Him. He will help you.
As we commit our lives to HIm, He will help us. As we commit this building to Him, He will help us. As we trust in Him, He will do good in our lives.
Psalm 127:1–2 NLT
Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
My prayer for this LeRoy Drop-In Centre is that It will be a place where people can come and make friends and have fellowship. My prayer is that when you come in here that you would have a peace that surpasses our human understanding. My heart’s desire is that you would feel God’s presence when you walk in the doors of this place and that God’s blessing would be very evident and real. My prayer is that there would be much joy and laughter in these four walls and that it would spread within this community.
Let’s pray.
Lord, I pray that you would bless this Drop-In Center. I pray that it would be a blessing to the community of LeRoy. I pray that each person that enters these doors would experience love, friendship, and fellowship. May it be a safe place for all to come.
I pray that there would be great joy and peace experienced by all who come through the doors and I pray that you would bless all who have put so much effort in to make this a vibrant place again. May you presence be felt by all who enter.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
