Colossians 4:7-18 “Tychicus will tell you all about my activities.
He is a beloved brother and faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord.
I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are and that he may encourage your hearts, and with him Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you.
They will tell you of everything that has taken place here.
Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, and Mark the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you have received instructions—if he comes to you, welcome him), and Jesus who is called Justus.
These are the only men of the circumcision among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me.
(v12) Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.
For I bear him witness that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and in Hierapolis.

Your person needs to be more generous with others.
Luke 17:7-10 ““Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’?
Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’?
Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded?
So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’
”
The rule is that I am a generous person, this is not the exception
There is pain associated with being generous
It does take you using your stuff for God and you need to realize that it was never your stuff to begin with.
It was all God’s stuff
2. Be more generous with your stuff (v15b)
Generosity reflects Christ!
Your stuff ought to be used for the glory of God
3. Biblical generosity has a kingdom mindset - be more generous toward God’s Kingdom (vv.
13b, 15a, 16)
Colossians 4:16 “And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea.”
The mission is more than Compass but it explicitly includes Compass
The focus in the New Testament is on the local church.
God’s plan is the local church.
Don’t bad mouth the bride of Christ.
It is a both and not an either or
Local church minded and global church minded
How can you use yourself, and your stuff for the glory of God?
Where can we begin praying and expecting to plant the next Compass Bible Church

2. Read Philippians 2:17–18 “Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

3. Read Hebrews 13:16 “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” & 1 Timothy 6:17–19 “As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”

Like Nympha meeting the needs of her church through her stuff, how should we think about our own stuff in light of God’s mission to save souls and build his church?
4. Read 2 Corinthians 9:5–13 “So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”
