Motivational Gifts

Romans 12:6–8 KJV 1900
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Romans 12:9 KJV 1900
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
A prophet needs spiritual discernment
The Lord Jesus was the greatest prophet and in OT Prophecy it was said

3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, Neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Prophets sence dishonesty
Peter understood dishonesty
ananias and Sapphire
The fear of the Lord came upon the church
Many didn't want to join the church because of the dishonesty that was in their life.
Prophets desire justice
Prophets can tend to distance themselves from offenders.
“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump”
There is an alertness to sin.
This must be done in the Spirit
Prophets are transparent about their personal failures

7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
Luke 5:8 KJV 1900
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
A prophet in the flesh will not be open about their failures
A prophet in the spirit will be humble an honest.
Prophets are wholehearted in their involvement
They are committed to the cause
They respond quickly to opportunities

Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
Loyalty to truth vs loyalty to people
John 6:67–69 KJV 1900
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Loyalty to their teacher
Loyalty to the first teacher
Negative = prophets see something wrong hear something wrong they want to speak out right then against it.
Whose responsibility is this ?
Do I have all the facts?
Should I take action now?
Willing to suffer for right
Acts 5:29–34 KJV 1900
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. 33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them. 34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
Acts 5:40 KJV 1900
40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

Prophets are persuasive in Defining Truth
Peter, by the Spirit’s power, preached and great conviction came upon thousands.
Acts 2:23 KJV 1900
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
negative= dwelling on the negative
Misuses
Exposing sin without restoring
What is the true test of spirituality
Galatians 6:1 KJV 1900
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
The ultimate goal is to restore people
A person who is a prophet could
The exposure of sin is the first step of restoration.
A person with the gift of prophecy must remember that he or she fails and needs to remain in humility and meekness.
A person with this gift doesn't have to be mean or harsh
Jumping to conclusions
drawing conclusions from a few amount of facts
Taking words and actions of the accused out of context in order to prove their points.
Making emotional statements in the moment
Reacting harshly to sinners
He tends to denounce so strongly that it appears as overkill
Tends to expect immediate repentance
whether the rebuke
If correction is not given in love the corrector is wrong
their correction can be a nuclear response
Being unforgiving
Separate the sin from the sinner
someone that hear the corrections might think the prophet was responding in anger
Meanness
Peter’s epistles balance truth and love
Don’t hurt people
Self Condemnation
The harsh judgements they have for
Mark 16:7 KJV 1900
7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
quick decisions
Cutting off people who fail
as a church we can’t do that
Who here has not failed
If a part of our physical body fails, do we cut it off
Confronting wrong right then and there
Is it under your jurisdiction?
Pray and ask God to work if it’s not under your jurisdiction
Prophets may want to work around God-given authorities - don’t go out of boundaries
Lacking tactfulness
Mark 8:31–32 KJV 1900
31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
Painfully direct
correcting people nomatter who they are
Peter rebuked Jesus then Jesus rebuked him
God revealed that to you
then
the devil is talking through you
Dwelling on the negative

person or activity - once labeled
