Dana would never let me do it. I knew better.

Sometimes I don’t do the things I know I should

and do the things I know I shouldn’t

PRAY

Recap: HS lives in us

Leads us to him/truth

Convicts us of our wrong doing

Is a Comforter, Advocate, helper

IS A SOURCE OF REVELATION AND WISDOM

Brings us eternal life

GIVES US POWER

So what keeps us from living in to this.

Romans 7:21-25

21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power[e] within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. A New way to live: you must arm yourselves with the same attitude (Jesus) had

What does this really mean:

Lets go a little deep for a minute.

Mind heart soul and body

Paul through book inner vs outer flesh

Soul, heart mind…. Inner

Created in Gods image… inner is where the temple is

8 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power[a] of the life-giving Spirit has freed you[b] from the power of sin that leads to death.

5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace

9 Butyou are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life[d] because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

What does this mean

We need to have a Conscious dependance on the Holy Spirit.

The battle is real

Ask God to reveal your weaknesses of the flesh

For many believers its hard to talk about things

Pride kicks in

1 Peter 4: immorality: affairs, stealing

Lust: porn

Feasting: materialism

Drunkenness: excessive

wild parties: lifestyle not pleasing

terrible worship of idols: We make a lot of things more important

Realize we have a problem with the outer flesh.

Accountability… scared

Prayer

Get rid of things that cause temptation

Do not conform…

(And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
