I. The Wicked Described vs. 1-12

A. Asaph almost fell because he saw the wicked prosper. It’s hard to understand why bad happens to good Christian folks, and when we see people who do bad things, and live wrong get rewarded it’s easy to wonder is it worth it?
B. Some will mock Christians, Jesus, the Father and/or the Holy Spirit and it seems as though they are getting by with it. Rom. 2:5
Romans 2:5 NASB95
But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

II. The Doubting Believer vs. 13-20

A. Asaph wonders if he lived a “good life” in vain. Are we living “good Christian life” in vain.
B. He has suffered and probably is suffering, he has lost his hope.
C. He realized that they were headed for ruin, for hell. This was the only Heaven that they would know. Judgment will happen, and then the roles would be reversed.

III. The Dependent Believer vs. 21-28

A. Asaph realized that he had lashed out like an unthinking animal to God in his doubt, and confusion.
B. He realized only God got him though this short/long life. (Rope ill.)
C. The Lord was Asaph’s refuge, is He ours?
D. How do you help someone who is in this condition, or help yourself?
Be honest about the situation (the hurt, the confusion)
Don’t judge.
Listen (have someone who will)
Look at those who have gone through similar circumstances (Fellow Believers/Christian biographies) Gal. 6:2
Galatians 6:2 CSB
Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
