Hey man.
Good sings.
Go ahead.
Remain standing.
Take our Bibles, we're going to turn.
I blew up this morning, the Book of Luke, The Book of Luke, and we're not going to be here.
All morning.
This is going to be kind of a springboard, text for us, Luke chapter 1, by the way, fathers, Happy Father's Day to each and everyone of you and since everybody's already standing, I won't have you stand.
But if you did not get your cookie, when you came in, we got crumbl cookies for each one of the fathers and they're in the very back.
And I know that many of you have already gotten yours, but if you have not make sure you get one before you leave today and would that they're called cookies really there.
Their small cake is what they are, but they're very good and I just a small token from quarter.
Baptist Church to let you know how much we appreciate our fathers.
Luke chapter 1 through chapter 1. Verse number 16, the word of God says In many of the children of Israel, shall he turn to the Lord, their God, this is talking about John, the Baptist verse 17 says, and he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient, to the wisdom of the just to make ready a people prepared for the Lord to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children under breaks a message.
This morning titled, it's not easy being a Godly father, it's not easy, being a Godly father.
Let's go to the Lord in prayer.
Father, we do ask that you be with us this morning and Lord God as we Observe this day today.
Lord God a day that we give to our fathers.
Lord God I I believe the most unappreciated gift in our society is the gift of a dad.
Lord God.
Dads have been maligned.
They have been told that they're really not that important.
Nor God your word says just the opposite and it's just more proof.
Father God, that what you say is important?
The world says, is not.
And what you says.
I cannot be a priority.
The world says, is that it ought to be Lord.
God, Our dads have missed the boats because Society has missed the boat and I pray, father God that you would just bless this time.
This morning, I pray it would be an encouragement to Dad's.
I pray heavenly father that as we apply these principles to each and everyone of us, this morning that we would see that.
These are biblical principles.
These are not Steve's principles.
These are not the principles of of some organization.
Lord God.
These are biblical principles.
This is what you have for us and Lord, I pray.
Now that you just be with the time, use it for your glory and honor.
We thank you in Jesus name.
Amen.
Or a chicken going to be seated.
Luke chapter 1 here, Lucas writing about John the Baptist in his ministry, many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord, their God and we know that John the Baptist in this John, the Baptist came on the scene like a whirlwind.
We don't know exactly how long before Jesus, he came onto the scene.
We know, he was born about six months prior to Jesus, they were related and that they were distant cousins, but John the Baptist burst onto the scene and some say he was probably around 25 when he did.
So which means about five and a half years that he prepared the way of the Lord.
That was his god-given mission.
That was what God had told him to do.
But within that mission where other results, one of which was to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children.
As we read in verse number 17, This is an interesting statement but you know, I think it's a statement that needs to be said and boy, if we could ever see a time when the hearts of the fathers need to be returned to the children, it is today.
You know, it's interesting that it does not say to turn the hearts of the children to the father's.
Now, the original prophecy did in the Book of Malachi, but for whatever reason, God allowed Luke to leave that part out and I think that's why we're going to be here this morning.
You see the biblical fathers were given a great responsibility regarding the children.
They were to provide for the home laziness was considered immoral.
It was a, it was immoral to be lazy.
I believe.
Laziness should still be considered as immoral when we, when we think about that and how that we allow people to get away with lice.
Laziness God, hates laziness.
God has as much to say, if not more to say about the immorality of laziness, as he does about the immorality of say, fornication, or homosexuality, God hates laziness and we can see it throughout the word of God in Proverbs chapter 6. Verse number 6.
The Bible says, go to the ant house, sluggard.
By the way, sluggard is a very cross way of saying lazy.
See, go to the ant house, sluggard considered consider her ways and be wise, which having no guide overseer or ruler provided for meat in the summer, gathereth her food in the Harvest.
How long will the house sleep or sluggard?
When will tell rise out of thy sleep?
Yet a little sleep, a little Slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep so she'll die poverty.
Come as one that travels with and I want is an armed man.
God's word says that poverty is almost always the result of laziness.
Now you can be you can be poor and not be lazy but generally if you're lazy you're going to end up being poor in one way or the other 1st Timothy 5:8.
But if any provide not for his own, specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith in this worse than an Infidel.
So God put this on Father's, he put this on men, he said this is what you're supposed to do.
If they were to provide for the home and laziness was considered immoral immoral, they also were to leave the home in spiritual matters while spending time instructing and leading.
By example, in Deuteronomy chapter 6, The Bible says these words, which I command thee this day shall be in, thine heart.
Now shall teach them diligently until I children and she'll talk of them when they'll citizen nine house.
What you notice what it says here, this is Deuteronomy chapter 6, verses 6 through 7 by the way God says, considering my word that I shall teach them diligently until I children and shall talk of them when they'll sit in line house when I walked, by the way.
And when thou liest down and went awry assist up, in other words, God said, it's not up to the school to teach your children about morality and the ways of God, it's not up to the school.
It's not up to the community center.
It's not up to Head Start.
It's not up to anyone else he says, Dad's.
This is your job.
Do it.
And be diligent about it diligently, teach them that she'll talk about them.
When they'll sit is tonight house, you know what that means?
Dad, you got to be home.
You have to be home.
So you can talk about these things while you, that while you sit, in your home, by the way, can I say this that providing your children?
Spiritual upbringing, is a whole lot better for your kids, then working that overtime so that you can buy them that the latest and greatest toy or that that the newest fad, or get them into that.
That that club sports The show talk about them when else it is in your Ensign house.
When that walk is, by the way, that means you're walking with your kids, you're talking with your kids, you're communicating with your kids hate, when you're in the car, turn off the radio.
Talk to your kids communicate when it comes.
Time to sit down and eat sit down at the table and turn off the television.
And talk with your kids communicate with your kids, find out what's going on in your kids lives.
when I was serious, when that walkest wind Elias down,
One of my best memories is a father, raising kids is when I would tuck them in at night.
And and I would make up stories I'd lay in bed with them and they dad tell me a story and this was not a nightly thing, but it happened quite often.
And with what I find really funny is the fact I'd forgotten all about these stories that too that I told my kids, cuz I just kind of made them up.
As I went, they still remember those stories to this day, Dad.
Remember that story that you told about such and such in?
No, I really don't, but they do cuz they remember these things and my stories were always gross and bloody and someone died and ended, the object, was to scare Mike.
And you wonder why my kids are warped will, that's why.
When the Elias down, when the racist up.
Proverbs 13:1 says a wise son here at his father's instruction.
Well Dad's need to be giving it if the sun's going to hear it.
