You Don’t Have An Evil Twin Living Inside Of You

Flesh is not who you are, it is only when you are not resting in the suffeciency of Jesus Christ
You have one nature.
Gal 2:20
Rm 6:1-3, 6
Col 3:3
2 Pt 1:4
Col 2:11
2 Cor 5:17
In a very real sense, we understand what it means to have one nature, whether we realize it or not.
Prior to putting on that uniform, what were you? A civilian.
Are you still a civilian? No.
What about when you struggle to wake up at 0130 to get ready for watch? No.
What about when you’re not in the mood to shave or get a haircut for uniform inspection? No.
What about when you’re on leave for two weeks, at home, living it up in your civi’s? No.
What happened to separate you from this civilian identity?
You joined the military. You made an oath, a covenant if you will… that you would give your life to this country.
Many people treat that oath lightly; I didn’t sign up for this. But just try to go AWOL and see how seriously the Navy takes that oath you made.
Likewise, it was no small matter when you came to see the truth of the Gospel, when you surrendered your life to Christ, turned away from your selfish way and vowed to submit your life to God by putting your faith and obedience in the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.
If you are a Christian, there is no sin, no brokenness, no imperfection in your life that competes with, or overrides, or distorts that identity.
