Intro and Tension
We are here, this is it | The end of an epic series | But we aren’t done yet | What if there is still something deep inside | You have heard the series, agree with it all, and yet, still caught up in that habit | Caught up in that thing that is keeping you in the desert | Maybe it’s a deeper wound | a deeper habit | Maybe you’ve agreed with the whole series and yet, something is still there, holding you back, that started years ago - Today, let’s be bold, let’s confront it.
Message series | Treasured Posession | We spoke about what “Treasured Possession” means - Owned, Segullah | We spoke about choosing to break patterns holding us back, we got stuck here | Comfortably, uncomfortable | Comparison | Condemnation | Winning the war within to move THROUGH the wilderness, spirit and flesh | Last week, opinions.
It’s been direct | Heavy | Confrontational | Encouraging, I feel it all | If you have come with an open heart I am sure this has touched someone, stretched someone | Come expecting to hear from God | Come expecting to see change in your life if you apply it | God has a word for His people who are HERE | Maybe, Just Maybe, all of it has been great, but there is a heavy lie in your life | Some hurt | Pain | Years | Today, we look at going with the crowd - how sometimes we drift toward the world and isolation | We look at the lies that have kept us down - and what we can do about it
Title: How to confront the crowd and bring your deepest issue To God
My Hope: You will understand that FREEDOM starts with a CHOICE to CONFRONT that which is holding you back.
**Prayer**
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.
Not people, now people | We once had no identity in heaven, we now have identity | Once rebelious, without mercy, but God has given it to us through his Son Jesus Christ | We had our God send His ONLY SON to Die | to Show Example | To show us what the kingdom would look like | to give us grace |
and yet, some of us, still carry another identity | Another hurt | another label around with us.
Some of us, instead of leaning in to what God would want for us, still want to follow the crowd, or people of this world - Sometimes maybe we think “is that really where healing happens?”
Some of us, are so distracted by the world, that we can miss the transformational power of Jesus, of community, of His word - and I want to speak to somebody today, who may feel isolated | Hurt | Alone | May be caught up with the crowd but there is something deeper in you, that you know needs healing.
I want to journey through a bit of Jesus’ ministry, and have a look at one story in particular - Jesus had massive crowds following him...
Crowds, or people, are complicated - Jones’ theory, everyone wants to do what the jones’ are doing | creates FOMO |
Movie World Crowd | Kid frustrated with the same crowd | That everyone wanted to see in the parade | Kid wanted to be a super hero - Be someone that he wasn’t - isn’t that what we do? We wear masks, to mask the pain - Sometimes we get caught up with the world, and we have lost the revelation, of who God calls us to be.
Just because there is volume or a mass of people, doesn’t mean that’s where the victory is.
The world says the loudest voice wins | Jesus came, and everyone hated him | The same crowd that was trying to kill Jesus, Jesus came to heal the same people trying to crucify him.
Crowds loved Jesus; He had heaps of crowds when he preached - Check this out
And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.
The word Kingdom = Second half of the word comes from Dominion. First half “Kings” - When they say “Kingdom” = Heaven = Kings Domain.
When Jesus taught us to pray, he said;
Our father in heaven, Hallowed be your ____(Name) - Your “Kingdom Come” - Your will be done - On earth, as it is in heaven.
Kingdom come = 2 meanings here = eternity, but also we sing “you bought heaven down to earth” - Jesus came, show us a glimpse of heaven, and left us with the Holy Spirit - lives inside us, and we can be beaming lights of Christ which displays heaven on Earth.
Heaven can be opened up to you as a God fearing believer as a glimpse of the Kingdom, right here and right now.
Every time you do something that only the Holy Spirit can do, you see Heaven.
Forgiveness | Grace | Humility | Healing | Miracles that happen | Spirit Lead Communities | Loving each other | Having Grace for each others shortcomings -
Now, Jesus is preaching | Travelling around | Doing his ministry and he gets to this place where Jairus a Synagogue leader pleads for him to save his little Girl - A great crowd came around Jesus, and we meet the woman with the issue of blood.
Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” And he went with him.
And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him.
I want to preach from this: Between your crisis, and your creator, is your crowd | Issue | Your hurt | something, you have to face.
This lady - with the blood - was isolated - was in a crisis. I looked up what a crisis is - I said “Hey Siri” -
- a time of intense difficulty or danger.
a time when a difficult or important decision must be made.
the turning point of a disease when an important change takes place, indicating either recovery or death.
When we are in Crisis | We turn one way = Life, other way = death | We have tried medicating it ourselves, or with the world, but we haven’t bought it to Jesus.
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
If you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be eaten by the sword;
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years,
Look how she is labelled - Look at her identity | She was identified by her issue | We all have issues, put your hand up if you have an issue | Hand not up? That could be your issue | This woman, has issue of Blood |
We are certain, she is bleeding but uncertain of the cause | Certain of her issue, but uncertain of her identity | Certain of her pain, uncertain of her purpose | Certain that she has heard of Jesus, but uncertain she can get to Jesus.
Sometimes: Certain that everything is not right about me, but uncertain I want to do anything about it | Anyone been certainly uncertain? Certain I want community, uncertain if this is the right one | Sick and tired, but too sick and tired to do anything about it.
The deficet is never with God - I am certain God can change your situation, but uncertain if sometimes we believe it |
12 years isolated | 12 years issue | 12 years of Hurt | 12 years plagued |
The only thing that will change this womans deprivation is her desperation - We need to get desperate for God. Desperate for Change!!
In this time, she was considered “unclean” - No community | Could not touch anyone, and anyone could not touch her |
12 years!! Alone | it says;
and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.
She is bleeding, some of us, bleed and try and fix the bleeding, but don’t try and solve the issue |
Played soccer | Rolled my ankle | Just take painkillers
Painkillers don’t solve the pain, they mask the pain.
Some of us are using things of this world as painkillers for our problems | Alcohol = Painkiller | Games = Painkiller | Jobs = Painkiller |
Sometimes we cover up something that God doesn’t want you to cover anymore. He wants you to bring it to Him | Sometimes it’s something that happened years ago...
During Covid = Digital crowd in an NBA game | Digitial duplication when they scanned a person and then duplicated them around stadium to make it look like they are there - this happens to us with past hurts - sometimes its in our heads.
Soccer Grand Final | Boy named Calumn, sick at training | Started number 2 Keeper | Calum came up to me “You’ll always be number 2, you’ll never be good enough” - So I worked hard at everything to not be a failure -
A little crowd was set up in my mind “You’re not good enough”
This is what happens

Some of us, can be at home and be yelled at, by the crowd in our head.
- Parents divorce, you have a warped view of Marraige.
Some of us, carry around something people have said about us all through life and put that on others |God wants to break us free from this.
But if we push this down we will stay in crisis, and never get to creator | God wants us to bring these to LIGHT. The enemy will use them and say “If you bring to light, your a failure” God = “If you bring this to light, you are FREE” - WHO SON SETS FREE
This woman was done with her ISSUE - it says;
She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.”
She had to leave her isolation | Leave her issue | Had to push through that which was keeping her in isolation to get to Jesus | She tried to get the world to heal her - But it didn’t work - She needed one touch of Jesus | She needed to get to Jesus no matter what | She had to get there | C’mon, we got to get to JESUS.
God wants to be our number 1
You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around you—
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
She knew, the only way was Jesus, the only way out is Jesus - BUT remember we said, way back | Deliverance starts with a decision | It starts with wanting to press into the issue.
This doesn’t mean that Psychology is bad, or counseling is bad, or medication is bad, none of that is bad - but pressing the issue down and ignoring it, will lead to death.
Nate = Queensland = Hit his eye = Nurse said “Apply pressure to the bleeding”
This lady had to go through the crowd, to get to Jesus, we have to go through a bit of Pressure.
What happened;
And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?” And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ” And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
She was healed | Somebody give jesus some Praise | When you bring, what is hurting, when you face, what is pressure, when you lean into the things of God = You are met with Grace and Love.
Someone is getting freed
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
A stronghold is a lies, misconceptions and deceptions that the enemy plants in your mind that demean the nature of God.
that makes you think you deserved what happened to you.
Listen - We are breaking down these strongholds but we can only do it together.

God has said, to build a community of believers that truly love each other - That’s why we value character + Commitment over copetency here | Everyone is welcome, in this palce.
As we come together, let us build each other up.
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
Brick illustration - World wants us to be bricks, some christians want us to be bricks, to be perfect.
Reality - We are stones, living stones, his treasured posessions, on a bedrock or Christ - fitting together awkwardly, weirdly, but somehow, building something special.
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
It’s time as His treasured posessions, to come together | To create a place where we can bring our issues | bring our hurts | be healed | Maybe all you need is that one touch | Are we going to be that community?
Are we going to be truth-seeking-spirit-led-faith-filled, Warriors of Christ?
